Christmas Trees

Wednesday, November 26, 2008 – 6:40 P.M. I have had to go five places during each of the past two weeks.  Most of these were for medical appointments, with the exception of weekends.  With the help of Thanksgiving, I only need to go one place during the next two weeks.  That will give me a short breather, which I can really use.   The communication between my brother and I has improved somewhat.  We exchanged a few e-mails back and forth last week, and have been on the phone to one another a couple of times during this week.  My brother seems to be very eager to attend another counseling session with me as soon as possible.   As for my sister, she told me this afternoon that we did not have any problems between us.  If she really thinks that, then she is in a lot of denial.   For the past few weeks, my brother, sister, and I have been working around the issue of money that was owed to me from the sale of my home.  Although I have not yet made a final decision, I am now leaning toward accepting their offer.   With the holiday season upon us, we are about to enter an argument about trees.  How idiotic can people really get?  For about eight years, my brother has always gotten me a live tree for Christmas.  Two years ago, even though he had already gotten a tree, my sister went out and bought a small artificial tree for me.  Last year, before my brother could even buy a tree for me, my sister "ordered" him to buy a fiber optic artificial tree for me.  That meant I had three Christmas trees in one room!   I am in the process of trying to head off another such debacle.  My sister has had a very large tree in her family room for about twenty-six years.  Last year, she gave it to her daughter.  After doing that, my sister said something about being stuck with a small tree.  This year, her daughter returned the bigger tree to my sister.  Now, my sister is trying to give me her original tree, because she is going to buy another tree, which is supposed to be slimmer, and will fit into her family room much better.  I cannot quite figure out how that can be.  Did her family room suddenly shrink somehow?   While all this is going on, I seem to be collecting one tree after another every year.  I have decided not to accept my sister's offer for her large tree.  I am sure there is some sibling rivalry going on between my brother and sister over which one of them will get a tree for me, but I also think they are trying to show their love for me.  I am being smothered with kindness, and this is beginning to kill me.

Oh dear... How do they expect you to wheel through a forest?

Hugs and Mojo to you Jim...

UGH! It\'s so silly, hey? I hate Christmas for this reason. People arguing over nonsense. The last thing you need is sibling rivalry, unless it\'s how to find you a reliable driving service or how to get you back the money stolen from you.

I\'m not surprised your brother is eager to attend another session. Perhaps he is realizing how much you bring to his life.

How are you feeling lately, depression-wise? Do you feel you are getting something out of your siblings efforts to repair the relationship?

Tell the sister you sold all the trees to buy crack and need a real one. They smell better. If anyone deserves a real one, it\'s you. What do you prefer? Or are you like me, and prefer nothing? I think this should be the Xmas where Jim gets whatever he wants. Real tree, no tree, fake tree - you decide and order those to get it for you.

Just tell Them you would like ONE small tree that will fit nicely in your APT. Ask them to find some other way of showing they care for you. How about cooking you a meal or helping you do some shopping grocery or otherwise, Good luck and hugs-Stephanie

An over abundance of Christmas trees. Too bad they don\'t pass out money as freely.

\"How are you feeling lately, depression-wise? Do you feel you are getting something out of your siblings efforts to repair the relationship?\"

I am feeling badly depression-wise, but I\'m trying to hide the feelings from my family. If they knew the truth, it might make them happy, and I would not really like that to happen. I am still holding out on the question of accepting the money owed to me by my brother and sister. This may sound somewhat childish, but the longer I can hold off from making a decision, and thereby making them wiggle a bit more, the happier I will be. They have made me wait almost 11 years, so why shouldn\'t they spend some time waiting as well?

\"Tell the sister you sold all the trees to buy crack and need a real one.\"

LOL If I told my sister that, I seriously believe that she would try to have me committed somewhere. I like your suggestion though.

I have decided that I want to get a real tree, and will ask my brother to get one for me just as he used to do before my sister began to create a forest for me. I doubt she will like this, but she will have to get accustomed to it. You can\'t always have what you want in this world.

No, you can\'t always have what you want. I think you\'ve already had enough of that though. It\'s your time to get what you want from now on.

Real trees smell lovely.

I think it\'s wise to hide those depressive feelings from family, my friend. I can totally understand that. If you reveal it to them, they just may start trying to control you again. Control is not support.

They should spend time waiting. You bet they should. I\'d even bring it up once in awhile in conversation. Casually, of course. Maybe even under my breath sometimes. \"Hey, remember that time you stole from me? That was so mean. Would you like some gum?\"

You are the one who should have the power to get them committed. Gosh, this world is ALL MESSED UP. It\'s like we were born in backwards world or something.
