Christmas Eve,relaxed and at peace with God
Good morning journal, the time is 10:09am,and although I have been awake for over an hour,I have just recently come to my chair.I spent some time in very pleasant conversation with my wife, let the dogs out,and had a cuddle;a blessed start to the day before Christmas. As I type,my wife and canine children are fast asleep around me,my wife on the sofa, and the dogs huddled in their usual protective ball of fur around her.The smell of gingerbread wafts invitingly in from the kitchen,my wife having stayed up most of the night baking, she is a good baker, she is a good cook, she is a great friend;she is a wonderful wife.It is in moments such as these, when our home is silent, that my blessings can reveal themselves to me in a burst of blinding clarity, which otherwise passes almost unnoticed in the frantic and rushed pace of a normal day. This morning I am grateful, and the sense of peace and calmness is almost tangible when our home is at rest, and my family are content such as now;my thoughts drift,as I knew they would,to my daughter who is sadly, yet again, not with us.Though I miss her dreadfully as always, her presence among us brings a soft smile of happiness and warmth to my grizzled old countenance;and my heart threatens to burst with love, and enormous pride that I was blessed beyond belief to be her daddy.Yes,I can feel you kitten, wrapping me in that possessive, not letting go ever, way you always did;and as always,my eyes, older now but the same eyes, mist over and make it hard to see. Please God,let the moon be clear tonight, clear enough to see the first star on the left, that is my Christmas wish for me,so that I can wish my girl Merry Christmas and watch her twinkle;and be gratified that her mommy is with her so she is not alone. Here in our home, please grant us serenity, and a little joy and gratitude that we are together as a family;for, even in our troubles and hardship of recent times;we have us.Merry Christmas everyone, whoever, and wherever, you may be;if you feel alone and hopeless this yuletide, look up,remember someone you love and pick a star;they'll hear you, trust me.Peace and joy journal,Merry Christmas.

Your post warms my heart this Christmas Eve. Thank God I don\'t know the heartbreak of losing a child, but have lost everyone else in my family except my child. My Mom and Dad, my Brother, my sweet kitty Jericho who died this year at 15, my dear friend Laurie (Ibleak) who passed away suddenly in August, my stepson who died at 17, and another friend who passed away just last week. Holidays are difficult for me and my son, with no other family around to share the joy of the season. But I thank God that we have each other, even though we are as different as night and day. No matter how different, we know that we love each other, and we know that no matter what happens, one would be there for the other. Please know that I am here for you, too, whenever you want to talk. You and your wife, and even your little daughter, have all become a part of my life now. I wish you and your wife peace, health, and miracles. Merry Christmas!
Scott, You seemed to have had a wonderful Christmas Eve, it is a shame that it didn\'t carry over to Christmas Day, maybe when you daughter does visit, you will feel that spark of warmth and love. Please take care, Bill
