Christmas Day 2014

As this day is coming to a close I feel the need to pause for a moment and sit down.  Dinner is done, the kitchen is clean, the trash has been taken out and the dogs have been taken for a walk.  Time for a little cheesecake and a cup of coffee and a little rest for my poor tired feet who have been on the go since early morning.
This was a fairly quiet Christmas  as compared with some of the past. However, I find I am missing my siblings more and more as each year passes.  With Dad gone and Mother almost gone, I am feeling the need of my family more keenly than ever this year.  Is it because I'm aware my time is running out faster and faster?  Is it because my son is getting older and has yet to find that "special someone" who will be with him after I am gone?  My greatest fear is that he will be alone.  I think I could rest easy if I knew he had someone who loves him like I do and would care for him.  Grandchildren would be a perk.
On the other hand, I have had a lovely Christmas day.  I am grateful to be here and able to move around.  I've spent the day in the kitchen cooking and baking and have a wonderful time.  There have been years when I was too ill to be able to lift knife and fork much less cook a meal.
My sweet Sammi, perhaps sensing my mood, just came over and gave me a little kiss on my hand and pawed at the keyboard as if to say "put it away."  I have a lot to be grateful for and the fact that I am able to do everything I wanted to today should be enough.
Think I will watch a little "High Anxiety."
