Christmas cheer
Just wishing all my DS friends all the best for Christmas. Cyber hugs all round.
In spite of ongoing issues with hand I am feeling upbeat. My son has arrived safely from UK (in spite of having to circle airport for 15 mins while they struggled to get landing gear down - Emirates) and the rest tonight. Tomorrow going to run a technology ban. We dont have TV connected any longer as NZ switched to digital at the beginning of December and we decided to give up TV. I have to say it has been AMAZINGLY UNSTRESSFUL here without it!! And we hardly watched anyway - but just "rushing" to do stuff before the news or whatever... And will turn phone off all day and not come on to computer.
Two other great positives. Firstly newsletter from SPCA for whom I volunteer. They have rehomed slightly over 900 creatures (dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits et al) up to December this year. Given that each dumping may represent more than one creature - eg bitch or cat with litter of multiples that are going to need four or more people to come forward to take them on, it suggests there are more good people out there than not so nice.
Other great thing is that I support a breakfast providing programme to low decile schools. It is run totally by local volunteers and they supply breakfasts, raincoats and shoes for children who go to schools in poor areas. It is just a simple monthly sum and not a lot but Kiwis have stepped up and they now help in over 360 schools having literally started in one and got media coverage with their success. Got the Christmas email newsletter too and makes me feel positive. When the community gets together in a non judgmental way so much can be achieved. You have no say in whom your parents are....
These thoughts carrying me through the 'end of the world' shopping scenario out there.... There is unfortunately nearly always something to buy on Christmas Eve....
Of course I am also high on double prednisone to get me through the Christmas period with my munted left hand. Even progressed from total right hand emu peck at the keyboard although not the fluent typist I was. Now just need the sun to come back for Christmas beach swim tomorrow morning...
Again good wishes to the people on here who help living with RA more bearable.
