Chippewa Landing

Camp dried out as hoped for yesterday. This morning’s light clouds have dropped just enough rain to make me feel spit upon, but not enough to make me put away the odds and ends I dragged from the tent to the open air as I cleaned up after the 4 day accumulation inside the tent. It stayed pretty clean and dry in there, but only comparatively. The soggy weather stretch was evident in the damp sand sprinkled everywhere. My annoyance with the light showers falling on the items I have left out to dry feels ingrateful. Am I closing my heart to possibilities my preferences never considered? I doesn’t know, but I does believe that is a recurring theme in all of Life. The earwigs burrowed in my tent’s nylon crevices might prefer to be left in peace, but there isn’t much to hunt in there, my creepies.

Leaving that mystery be, I am prepping for tomorrow’s take-off into the great unknown. I can wonder if Gaia is telling me to stay put. She knows how much I hate packing wet gear, but I am still feeling fairly confident the showers will not continue all day. So far, each shower has been followed by a blast of drying sunshine. Rain freshener for Persilly’s bed and the towels I used to mop up after entering the tent during the continuous rain? A drip of the drops that moldered me?

The Mississippi headwaters and I-35 families are still tugging. The connection to Central Texas might be the truest tug to I-35, but that tug still feels unhealthy. Hubs and fam might even qualify as one of those I-35 families. For certain, my own middle aged children havenae ever lived far from I-35. I was 22 and just passing through the first time I drove I-35. I am still just passing through, but those family connections keep pulling me back. I mostly believe that is a good thing. Sometimes better than others. . . Prayers ongoing.

Duluth, Minnesota is about 400 miles from here. That route bypasses most of the lakeshore. No need to decide today. We see what the morrow may bring.

For sure, I’ll miss the chipmunks in this family. I think they want to be adopted.

If you decide to head back to the homestead try for a break midway. I think the rest wil help more than one day earlier to meet the needs of what you will encounter....20 hours is a long drive and then settle too. Hugs. J.
Take a chipmunk we have lots of them.
