Chinks of light
What a funny old time this has been. I think yesterday was the last day of summer here, and I don't know where it has gone.But autumn is starting well. D isfeeling really positive at the minute, having started a 'Journey' programme - lots of turning up old emotional baggage, and said this afternoon that he suddenly felt chinks of light opening up ahead of him. He's doing well on round 2 of Sutent, and his main side effect at the moment is white hair and beard...now that is just a wee price to pay! Such an intense time, with so many visitors, stopping me looking ahead too much, but hopefully not stopping me looking into the present, and trying to come towards some sort of acceptance of all this. I'm going to start waffling unless I stop now....

You said that your fella\'s hair and beard are white. What color were they before the Sutent? I\'ve heard of this happening, but haven\'t know anyone with it. How wonderful that he isn\'t having any of the other side effects. I pray he\'ll continue to do well and that this medication will give him many years of quality life.
Living with RCC can be quite challenging. Just take it \"one day at a time\" and be greatful for every moment you have together. We just can\'t let ourselves think much about the future. Dealing with today is the best I can do. Several of our friends have told me that they don\'t know what to say. It\'s not what anyone says....it\'s knowing they care.

Hi Meriel,
So glad to hear that D is handling the Sutent. My husband\'s hair, for the most part, has also turned white, he is on his 5th round. I agree, a small price to pay.
I think I may have told you that my husbands scans looked good, we are just praying that the Sutent continues to work for him and he continutes to tolerate it. The good news did help his spirits and gave both of us an emotional lift.
Know that you are not alone in this battle, there are too many of us who are feeing and experiencing the same things that you are going through. Each new day is a precious gift that we need to live as if there were no tomorrows. That is what helps get me through.

Certainly, taking each day as it comes seems to be the only way to manage, which some people seem not quite to understand, trying to make us pin down dates and times and plans in the next few months. Just getting to the weekend seems hard enough sometimes!
So pleased about your husband\'s scans Becky, and hope that they continue in this way for a long long time.
Ingrid, his hair was ginger before!! So quite a change!
The Sutent is kicking in a bit more now, lots of sleepiness, and cold sores etc, but, still nothing too gruesome, touch wood.
