Chickie Chickie PEEP PEEPS are HERE!
I got a call from the Zanesville post office that my Chickies were on their way to the Coshocton p.o. but would not be in Warsaw until tomorrow... Well, I did what any womyn who's been in labor for 2 months would do! I called Coshocton and picked them up there! Actually, that is my preference anyway, and I was able to pick up a couple things in town along with gasoline... Yes, $20 to almost fill a 5 gallon can at $3.93 per gallon... I know I know, that's cheap to some of you folks, but I think of the farmers. How it the sam hell do they afford these prices? I read an article in the Akron Beacon Journal of a farmer who broke out his mules to rake hay because it was cheaper than buying fuel! Anyway, it's not a great picture, but I am exhausted! I'll get more tomorrow! It was such a buzy puppy day for me! I sprayed all of my fruit trees with neemoil (all season organic oil spray) this morning since we have a long stretch with NO RAIN! YEAH! This was the first time I have been on my tractor this spring, and I have to say, after a short refresher course from Guy on starting and shifting gears, I did pretty well! I even remembered the terrible bruises I got last spring and paid attention when I got on and off. I love that silly little tractor! AND, I have little tiny peaches on my peach trees! EXCITING! Running into town in the afternoon is not an easy thing for me. I have to remind myself to pay attention, and the hillbilly who decided to pass in a no-passing-zone (he was in MY LANE) was NONE TO PLEASED WITH ME! I did nothing wrong, I just didn't hit my brakes. Hey, if you want to be an idiot while I'm more in tune with my babies and talking to them since they really wanted out of that little box, what can I say??? At least, I took my foot off the gas... He made it around easily, but he certainly seemed surprised to see me! Honestly, I've seen so many sheriffs on the road as of late that I'm happy I naturally drive the speed limit. I never even have to THINK about it when I see one! He really gunned his engine as he passed me safely back in his lane, just waiting MORE GAS! Man, that's why I drive like grandma! When I can get 18 mpg out of Bertha, that's pretty good for an 8 cylinder. Ok, back to the PEEPS! They are funny when they are sleeping, and they just jump on top of the sleepers with no regard to anyone but themselves. I know I need to be thinking about a larger brooder and soon, but I think I have a week to figure that out. Mostly, they seem very content, nice and warm and safe and dry... The Schnauzers seem to have accepted the peep-peep-peeping. Sparky has been more "attentive" than PaPoo which makes me happy that he sleeps in the kennel while she's in our bed (hogging MumTheBum's leg space...). Another day on the farm, and I'll be sleeping very very well this evening! Here I am boobing while Guy tilled and disked both garden beds so they are both beautiful and ready for plants and seeds! Such an exciting time of year this is!
