Chiari Decompression Surgery
On July 27th, I had chiari decompression surgery for a 5mm chiari. I've had headaches for over 40 years. Everything went well and I was released from the hospital two days later. Other than pain at the surgical site and my neck being sore from the laminectomy, my recovery has been rather uneventful. I get very tired but each day I feel a little stronger. I've been able to stop taking the prescription pain meds and am just taking over the counter meds to take care of the pain. I go back to the neurosurgeon this week for another post-op checkup and to hopefully have my stitches removed (they are VERY itchy). I would like to add that when your doctor tells you not to do ANYTHING, don't! All you will do is make your recovery longer. They tell you this for areason......
