Checking in and all about me
It has been awhile. It sounds like the retreat was meaningful and a great opportunity for moms to catch up! I think my retreats from now until whenever, will be to Ottawa to visit my awesome little monkeys Sierra and Arabella and their mom and dad. We will be there in a month to celebrate the twins' 3rd birthday! I can't believe it! They are growing up so fast.
My moods have been the usual - up and down. I am a bit bipolar I think. Though I still shed a tear almost daily, I am okay.
I have had a rotten cold for a week. I am not a good patient (okay I am a nurse) so have been grumpy for a week. I rarely get sick so this ticked me right off. To me being sick is having a sinus headache and runny nose for a day. I now have the residual cough but am pretty much well. I am venturing out this afternoon for a walk. Our weather is getting rotten again. Our temperature is supposed to drop by 20 degrees overnight. Joe is now in bed with a cold. I am nothing if not generous!!
I had some sad news this week. One of my favourite staff members is fighting lung cancer. She is truly one of the most caring people I know. She cared for the whole person. She had a group of women on our dementia unit making a quilt. I was a bit hesitant at first but I worried in vain. The ladies enjoyed it. It was an activity they had enjoyed in the past. Unfortunately, when I left, the new manager ended her sewing program.
The older I get, and I am old! I spend more times looking back. I have had a blessed life in so many ways. I still do but it will never be the joyous one I lived before Lisa left. It will be 10 years on December 1. All I hope is that Lisa is watching and enjoying her awesome daughter and granddaughters. It just hurts that the girls won't know the best Grandma in the world.
I still am blessed to have my phenomenal SOTHs for getting me through 10 years.
Lisa: I miss you always and love you forever. Mummy

Hi Marlene, Omgosh, the twins will be three? Wow, that sure went by fast! They are so precious and adorable!
I’m sorry you and Joe aren’t feeling well. I hope you both feel 100% soon.
It was 10 years on September 4th since Eddie left for heaven. I’m like you - life is not the same without Ed physically here but I am blessed in so many ways. I too wish Ed had had the chance to be here in the physical sense with his grandchildren. I know Josh & Christina (Ed’s kids) feel such sadness that Eddie passed before their children were born. Another layer of pain for all of us for sure. How we miss our Lisa and Ed....
I will be thinking of you as December 1st approaches.
Love always to you and dearest Lisa, Linda
Yes, this years FMO retreat was PHENOMENAL and what a blessing to my heart! You were missed my friend, but I think retreating to Ottawa to visit those precious girls would the best retreat ever! Gosh, can hardly believe they'll be THREE!!!!
Praying you and Joe recover quickly from your illnesses. I hate being sick! It's rare, thank goodness, but darn if it doesn't mess things up! Nobody has time to be sick! And I'm so very sorry about your friend battling cancer. It seems like almost every day I'm hearing about someone else fighting this horrid disease. My prayers for her and all who know and love her. She sounds like a truly special human!
Life is good. And sometimes it's horrible. Amazing how we just keep on keeping on! I'll be thinking of you and Lisa as you anticipate December 1st, hoping the day is as gentle as possible and the smiles from happy memories out weight the tears and heartache.
Take care~
Teri
How wonderful to hear how life is treating you dearest Marlene. You are doing just what you need to and these years are precious and oh, so fleeting with our Little's. You soak it all in and enjoy it as you are.
As the decade year approaches BE ever so gentle with yourself and remember that Lisa is carried in each of our hearts as are you.
Colds be gone and to lose our friends is never easy. It touches those tender places within ourselves, doesn't it?
Loving care dearest Marlene to Lisa and to you always.
XO Joanie
Our babies can be the best retreat! Yes we will never be the same! How could we? I question that everyday regarding what normal looks like? I hope you start feeling better soon!
Much love, Joan xoxoxo
