Checkin in

Happy Thursday - it's one of those days in the week, that is not quite Friday, but clearly over the hump of the week - It's 7 days before our 2 week spring break. The kids are acting wild and excited but geez, could they tone it down just a bit? So many ebbs and flows to working in a school - seems like our  life is based on the school calendar and the upcoming breaks we get.....anyway - so looking forward to my break as well, just not able to be wild and crazy here @ work.....:):):)

Hunter is doing good. His weekly guitar lessons are going well - he does 2 weeks learning bass guitar and 2 weeks learning guitar. I enjoy the weekly visits and dinner afterwards - it's tough being 17, with 18 on the horizon and not sure how to "adult" as he says. Gosh, I wish I could tell him "how to adult" but half the time, I'm not sure how....Of course, missing his mom everyday and I so wish she was here....it's bitter sweet @ times.

We are going to Hawaii for 10 days (during my spring break) - we were going to Mexico (Puerta Vallarta) where we usually go, but Jim got a good deal going to Hawaii so that's where we are going. I'm excited to be so close to the ocean on a daily basis, excited to not have to do anything, BUT I get so anxious when I travel. Never used to, but I do now. there's a still small voice that keeps telling me - you have no-one, no sisters or brothers or family, and if something would happen, what would Hunter do? Who would get this and that? The reality is, there is no daughter to get dishes of her grandmothers or great grandmother. There is no daughter who would go through my stuff that means so much to me and take it, knowing it was mine and now she has it......yep, no-one.....traveling makes me think all of this - I have a very close friend who I give info too.....keys, flight info, how to reach Hunter, etc....but just what if something happened? I guess it wouldn't matter, then would it? I wouldn't be here.....but I have to work really hard not staying here in this "what if" stage - my head knows it feeds my anxiety.....my heart says - you would be with your mom & daughter - do I really care if I didn't return? Sorry, sisters....I.don't go here very often, only when I travel......it seems...the anxiety kicks in.....once I'm where I'm going I'm good and can enjoy myself....before Jennifer left this earth, I wasn't anxious about traveling, now I am....SIGH

I went to the Dr this week - I have osteoporosis - Fosomax was prescribed - not happy with those side effects.....I'm researching another treatment...getting old is not for wimps......They said the "extra weight" or FAT is a cushion to my bones on my hips....see, there is a positive to having "fat".......lol   Will keep you posted on what guru I see.

It's been a nice morning - giving me a chance to catch up on paperwork.....I'll go for now....

Love and hugs - Vicki, Jennifer's mom

My hips must be really happy, with all my fat to cushion them, lol. I think we all get more anxious as we get older. I hope you have a wonderful trip. Maybe, you can look up Joannie (Living juicey) :)

I understand your anxiety, Vicky. My granddaughter, Lee-Ann, is type 1 diabetic, and after 3 years she is still struggling to keep it under control. I am constantly in fear of losing her also!

Enjoy your Spring break, and make the most of every moment!!

Warm hugs! xxx

Anxiety sucks!
I have had similar thoughts when traveling. I am better now that Cevyn is grown and has great support from Brendan's family - and her dad.
I chuckled a bit (not about Osteoporosis; it is no laughing matter) when you mentioned the cushion on your hips. Unfortunately mine is on my tummy. Luckily, my bones are pretty strong. I still am concerned about falls on ice. Mae West was right. Old age is not for sissies! I used to smirk when i heard seniors comparing aches and pains. It isn't so funny now!!
Have a wonderful time on your Spring Break! Enjoy Hawaii! Aloha!!!
Tight hugs, Lisa's Mom

Understanding your feelings around traveling and hoping that your anxiety will lessen rather than increase. Of course you are concerned about Hunter and it takes a village and I just have to believe that if anything happens to us others will step in or that is my deepest hope.

I'm sure there are alternatives to the Fosomax so I hope you can find something that will help strengthen your bones without all the possible side effects. Walking is one of the best things we can do and any kind of weight bearing exercises.

Happy you have your vacation to look forward to and that our weather cooperates as we've been in a bit of a cooler, windy and rainy time. Of course it changes in five minutes so will keep our fingers crossed that you hit one of our glorious weather times. :)

TGIF and hope your weekend unfolds just as you need it to.

Loving care from Jennifer's mom from Douglas and me,
XO Joanie

Hi Vicki, I'm sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. The Fosamax with the side effects is concerning so I think you are wise to continue to gather information.

I wonder sometimes about how things will turn out since my only child passed away. When Ed died suddenly I had to change my will etc. That was a rude awakening for sure. The reality hit hard. I hope you and your husband will have safe travels and will be in Hunter's life for many, many years to come. Just try & enjoy your vacation. You deserve it.

Much love always to you and dearest Jennifer, Linda ♡

Hello beautiful! Glad you found a moment or two to catch up and check in. Life sure gets hectic at times huh?

So glad to hear Hunter is doing well!! I'm sure he's enjoying the lessons. I love a man that can play guitar! And I'm totally in agreement...not sure I know how to "adult" yet either! Adulting is hard!!!

HAWAII!!!!!! No, I'm not jealous. Not even a little. OK, maybe a little. Well, OK maybe a little more than a little. Well.....FINE! I'm majorly jealous!!!!! LOL! But seriously, the anxiety, I totally get it. It's a rational irrationality. Of course you'd think all these things. I've thought them myself. I think the important thing is to not let our insecurities and anxieties rule our lives and ruin our fun. So you do whatever you need to do in order to stay in control of your life's adventures. And then....just go with the flow!

Sorry to hear about the osteoporosis. I'm hopeful with the right medication you will be able to manage the disease with few to no unpleasant side effects. And yes, getting older isn't for wimps!!!

ENJOY your vacay!
Love to you and sweet Jennifer!!!

I am telling not to be a worry wart. ( not to be mean just a little hummer) My father use to call Grandma Warts LOL.. Things will fall into place as God intends. Hunter will grow up get married she will want family things for her house. I want you to have fun on vacay. Enjoy is the word for you today. My hubby will not fly so together we don't go far. He will cruise I drive to the port and off we go.

Worry makes wrinkles we don't need any more than necessary LOL

Anxiety just plain sucks! Hate your diagnosis, but I know you will research and make the necessary decisions, if need be.
I just turned the big 6-3...I keep saying I don't have time to get old, but geez, it still comes with new issues all the time.
Enjoy Hawaii...and come back rested.

Gently,
