The shop was brilliant the lad on the counter was so friendly and welcoming. We were on our way back to Portsmouth and had to pop in. I’ve had a cider delivery from here and it was fast and easy but going to the shop was just brilliant. Next time we are passing we will definitely be visiting again.
Her 18th-century, Grade II listed house has such a fairytale charm it could have been plucked from the mind of Hans Christian Andersen. Whimsical turrets, yellow Bath stone and scalloped slates perfectly complement Lowe’s maximalist interior design. Expect a warm and friendly welcome on arrival with staff on hand that are clearly passionate about their craft. Visitors are welcome to explore the farm from Monday to Saturday 9am to 5.30pm while small groups can book tours in advance . There’s plenty to explore; sample tasters among the oak vats, barrels and presses, walk along the orchard trail and take a look at the copper stills in the distillery.

“Martin Rich, my cousin, has been here since 1975 and learned from my father the way to make farmhouse cider to keep the family tradition going. The Sheppy family have been making cider for at least 200 years. “Quite a number tell us they always called in with their parents when they were children as part of their holiday ritual, and they jewellery shop near me continue to do the same now with their own. The skill of cider making has been passed down the generations since about 1880 and today, Chris Smolden’s young children are also involved with picking up apples grown in their own orchards. “Most of our customers are served at the farm gate and are a mix of locals and tourists,” he says.
Contrary to the love story promised by the cover and by the description on the back it is a very dark history expressing hopelessness and losing in life. Even the great acting of Liam Neeson and of the other characters cannot make it good. A very enjoyable film which made me want to read the book again, which I did.
