Chaos of Moving & Taking a Step Back
After a whole lot of rain, broken down trucks or driving a rental moving truck that was a death trap, and back breaking work my roommate is officially moved in! YAY! Mind you I have a very small house so its very chaotic right now with boxes everywhere. In fact my tiny dining room is stacked to the ceiling with my new roommates stuff. Luckily I am organizing queen so this huge challenge should be no problem. It may take sometime but I am getting an idea of how I am going to break this all down.
Things of course have been busy from the move, however, a lot of other things have been happening. For example a drunk took out the utility pole in front of my house! She drove right through it with no skid marks to show she even tried to stop! She then drove through my neighbors wood pile, through her side yard, between two houses and smashed into a neighbors shed. When it happened I woke up from a dead sleep thinking the noise was thunder complete with lightening because we had been having storms. However, something was different and after a small amount of time I got up to get a drink. When I looked out of my window low and behold there was a huge truck with flood lights shining down the street and a pole blocking my driveway. The top of it was still being held securely by wires where was the bottom half was severed from the ground and being held up over the street by the wire drops that go to my house!!! We had electricity, internet, and there was no immediate dangers. In fact the only time power went down was for a brief time when they switched everything over to the new pole.
Now here is the kicker. I do believe the fates that be where really on everyones side- including the drunk drivers. We were supposed to borrow my dads truck for moving but it broke down. If we would have had the truck where it would have been parked she would have smashed it as well and the pole would have hit it. We also would have parked the rental truck in that area but I insisted we take it back that evening. Mark (my new roommate) oddly enough felt compelled to park further up the driveway then what he normally does. Again, if he wouldn’t have his car would prolly be messed up. Even better it was trash night. Mark put the trash on the curb further down rather than its normal spot. She missed the can by a hair and if it was in its normal spot we would have been picking up our trash everywhere.
The drunk smacking the pole essentially saved a lot of lives because that sent her into a direction that shimmied her through a lot of “safer” obstacles. If the pole hadn’t been there she couldn’t went through my house or my neighbors house easily. However, within all of it and how the events played out and seemed to shape even weeks ago- she ended up in a shed, alive, and able to walk away. My dad always said God protects Children, Fools, and Drunks. I think this was no exception! I hope this was a wake up call for her and she can get the help she needs.
So, all and all between the move and the drunk driver taking out a utility pole it has been a most entertaining few days. I am exhausted! However, I am very grateful for my new roommate and looking forward to getting the house back to normal!
Hope everyone is well!
