Change

The season is changing and so has my mood. For once I can truly say that life doesn’t seem to be bringing me down. I am feeling warm and alive. I am happy (a little bit and that is all that matters).

The days grow shorter and night arrives sooner.
The sky seem darker even with the bright lunar.
The cool crisp air blows kisses
And there are no more dandelion wishes
There are no more singing birds in the trees
The colors are ever changing on the leaves.
Red, orange, yellows and browns fill the horizon like fire
The blue skies and green grass seem to still be our desire.
The smells brings back memories of the good old days
We settle in for winter in our own secluded ways
Autumn is the season and others call it Fall
It really doesn’t matter, as long as we absorb its beauty and all

Usually this time of year I start to become a bit down and out. It is what some may call seasonal depression. I tend to agree that I may have a bit of this but, what I notice is, I find that I realize the holidays are so near at this time. I love to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love the meaning behind them all. I enjoy participating in the customs that most of us do each year. It is truly an exciting time to share but, these are the most lonely moments for me also. I find myself sadden by living a life without the traditional family bonds. I resent that memories are only made by me. That my picture book is empty with what I imagine they should be filled with. And so I dread the fall and I find myself slipping away when winter comes. Not this time, not this year, I have found happiness to fill the void. Granted it isn’t traditional or conventional but who is to judge and ponder over the small details. I know I am not going to. All I care about is that I am for once happy and this year I smile for a reason.

Beautiful poetry as always! I am really sorry that the Winter holiday seasons usually bring you down, but am very happy that you found a reason to smile. Details are unimportant, all that matters is your happiness; I am so glad you are finally taking hold of it in spite of all the negativity. You are a very strong and inspiring lady who has definitely been a Good Samaritan to me I was feeling left for dead by life. I hope I can return the favor by remaining a positive factor of encouragement to you.
