CD 9 - Meeting with Intervention Radiologist
This journal is more for me to document my side effects to the meds I've taken thus far and to get all my thoughts down so far, as my first IUI cycle.
CD 3-7 Took Clomid and EstradiolCD 3 - After taking first clomid pill, I woke up in the middle of the night, wide awake and with a headache. Luckily, after an hour or so, I fell back asleep and woke up shortly after, without a headache! Which was great. I'm not sure if the clomid played a role in this or not, but thought I would note it!CD 4 - No side effectsCD 5 - Minor hot flashes CD 6 - Minor hot flashesCD 7 - Lingering headache and hot flashes at night and minor cramps (similar to O cramping)CD 8 - Slight headache in the morning and moderate cramping (similar to O cramping, My guess is that clomid is working and it's the follicles growing that I feel. I will find out on Friday!
So, other than a few hot flashes and a couple headaches, I didn't have any other side effects!
CD 9 - Met with my husbands Intervention Radiologist! I really loved the doctor, he spent 30-40 minutes with us, answering all of our questions and we did not feel rushed at all. He said DH's SA results were actually within the normal range in everything except SLIGHTLY low on motility and low morphology. The slides from the ultrasound verified that DH does have a varicocele, but because it's a minor to moderate varicocele he isn't sure exactly how much its affecting his sperm counts/quality. He said if it was a more severe varicocele then the procedure would probably significantly improve his sperm quality, but because it's only "minor to moderate" ... it might only improve a little bit. There's no real way of knowing! He recommended the embolization over the surgery. He told us that he has had better success with the embolization and it's less invasive and has the same, if not better results than the surgery. It seemed like he was a little hesitant to schedule the embolization, because he didn't think it would significantly improve his sperm quality, but thought it was worth a chance, since insurance covers this procedure, and it doesn't cover an IUI or IVF. So for now, this makes the most sense...
Anyway, I am doing an IUI this cycle because I am honestly sick of waiting ... so I wanted to at least try something! I have a ultrasound scheduled on Friday to determine size of follicles. So, I hope that goes well! If the IUI is unsuccessful, then we will go through the embolization, scheduled for December 11th at 8:30AM. That way, i'll know if the IUI was successful by then.
So, here's hoping that my IUI is successful and we won't have to go through with the embolization! However, I am well aware of the LOW chances of success with an IUI.
Thanks for all your continued support!

Do you know when your IUI will be? It looks like it will be right around the time that I find out if mine was successful! Good luck to us both! Did you have any mood swings on Clomid? I was worried up until day 5 that I hadn\'t noticed any side effects...UNTIL...I sat on the couch and sobbed like a baby because my work pants had wrinkles. I hope you didn\'t have to go through anything like that!
fingers crossed everything goes well for the iui and hubby doesn\'t need the embolization in the end... sending you good vibes
I\'m not sure when I\'ll have the IUI. It all depends on the ultrasound appointment on Friday. If there are mature follicles Friday, I\'ll take the Trigger shot that night and hopefully an IUI on Sunday morning! If not, I\'ll go back in for a second ultrasound. I\'ll update again after my appointment! And no, luckily, I did not have any mood swings. I was worried about that, because with everything going on with IF, I can be a real B* sometimes ... mainly because I just get frustrated! I try my hardest not to get angry, but sometimes with my DH (because I\'m so comfortable with him, I can get \"snippety\") ... So I really didn\'t want to add any more tension between us. Honestly, if anything, I think I\'ve been less emotional than usual. Weird! That\'s exciting that you\'re in the later half of your TWW. Sending you positive energy for a BFP!
Sending many positive thoughts your way that the IUI is successful. Good luck :)
For me, I think the stress of not conceiving has lessened since I am actually doing something about it. Its a bit of a relief. Sending sticky vibes towards you all!
Glad you had a productive appt with a fab doctor. Hope this IUI brings you a BFP!!
