Catching some heat
Well, as usual for me on the Internet, I've made some enemies in the Alcoholism support group for my pro-cannabis ways. i am used to making enemies on the Internet and tend not to take things like this that seriously, but it is irritating.
i am a very busy Hollywood writer taking time out of my creative schedule to devote to Daily Strength to give and get help. But if i am not appreciated i can certainly take my help elsewhere.
i don't think i am going to give up on Daily Strength completely. i have found a wonderful community in some of the other groups, especially the Bipolar group, which is just as active and exciting as i remember it from 6 years ago when i was a member.
i understand not everyone agrees with me. I understand that i am an edgy artist with controversial views. I am used to people not liking my writing. That is nothing new. But it is irritating that i take time out of my busy writing days to help people on here and instead get attacked.
What's interesting is I have more sobriety then most people on the Alcoholism board but am still called not sober by a few members. That is irritating. I work hard on my sobriety. I have worked hard to achieve it. i take it very seriously. What other people think of me, is, as mae West or someone like that said, none of my business after all. i do have more important thing to do then be on here anyway.
NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, begins today. i need to focus on cutting down my latest novel, "Diary of a Hollywood Hedgewitch" to a more manageable length then it's current 700 pages. That will probably be taking more of my time in the coming month then Daily Strength.
I have had this happen to me before with Alcoholism treatments, even run out on a rail for some technicality, and I admit I am quite sick of the whole AA mentality. I am really done with it. I try to help and offer support to all of the struggling alcoholics. I write supportive messages and then I am told my support is not wanted. That is irritating. Well, I am active on other boards where i am more appreciated as I do have have more issues than Vogue.
Then there's always IRL. in real life, which has gotten to be a lot more fun since I got back together with my boyfriend. Better off to devote more time to that i think.

Sorry to hear that. Who told you your help wasn\'t needed!!!?? Wow!
I just read it. So sorry....
you chose to help you with this business stuff coming before any of the other stuff I would say....I have my own issue with pot from all the use I did before....it actually helped keep me schizophrenic in the 1980s so I cannot safely use pot...but I am never against someone else using it...unless that is right near me and puts me at risk of an arrest....still illegal here....in my state...but I don\'t want to push you away...I like that you are a hollywood writer....that is a first for my list of people I have ever talked to....hugs and break a leg? LOL
I saw what happened and I am hoping DS will take some action. I do not think personal attacks are allowed here... they certainly shouldn\'t be. I think you are allowed to express you opinion and should feel protected from personal attack. In any case, you have friends here that support you without judgement.
Sorry to hear people are hassling you Andrea. You have been a great source of encouragement and inspiration to me in the brief time I\'ve messaged you and very generous with your time. Hoping if you take a needed break from the DS board that it is not permanent...love, Rikki
Thanks so much for the support, you guys. I\'m not leaving DS, it\'s too much fun and has been very helpful. I just may be on less in the month of November because of NaNoWriMo. it is a great way to come up for air and take a break though, so I will still be here in and out. Thank you for your concern. I am also quite active on Twitter and argue about stuff with people there too, so arguing about shit on the Internet is like a speciality of mine although it\'s also one of my least favorite thing to do. it\'s nice to know that in the vast recesses of the Internet although there are some horrible people who hate me there are some really nice great people also. Thanks of being so nice!
Andrea,
I may not agree with you in promoting the use of cannabis as alternative to alcoholism, but you have a wonderful positive attitude that we would miss as well as your charming personality! Hey, we can agree to disagree, right?
I\'ve read some responses that go beyond civility in response to your suggestion, and was sorry to see this. Please don\'t let this impact your decision to participate in the group as you would be missed!
By the way, I\'d give you my sleek Titan vape and beautiful solid aluminum herb grinder if I could, since I no longer need them...
Robert
Looking forward to your new book.
