CAT Scabn Results
Well my Doc called yesterday while we were on the way to the hospital for Hubbys back surgery. He had the results of my pelvic and abdominal cat scans. seems they found absolutely nothing. Good news I guess but still doesn't answer where my clots are coming from. I'm feeling so darned frustrated now. Not that I want to find clots but it sure would be nice to know where my clots are coming from, and why they keep magically appearing in my lungs everytime my INR drops down to below 2.2. I was trying to explain to my hubby yesterday while we were driving that I'm actually not afraid to die if thats what the good Lord has in mind for me, I just don't want to stroke out and be a vegetable for the rest of my life, and stuck in a nursing home and actually be a burden on my family.I know I joke about living to be 140 and being a burden to my children but i wouldn't wish being a burden on anyone.I guess after I get Hubby home my next course of tests start with a colonoscopy.

But your right, that doesn\'t give your any answers as to why you continue to clot. I totally understand your fear about stroking out. I use to worry about that all the time, until I found out that you have to have an abnormal hole in your heart called patent foramen ovale for it to pass through. Have you ever had an echocardiogram? Because that would show if you do or not. If you haven\'t, you may have a good reason to get one, since they still haven\'t found the cause of your PE\'s. They might want to do one to check your heart valves because abnormal valves can have clot form behind them if they aren\'t working properly. How about arrythmias? Sometimes you can have mild atrial fibrillation and not even know it. Have they had you use a holter monitor yet?
Did you mention the ovarian torsion to your doctor? You might ask if it possible that your ovary might twist and untwist and not cause you any pain. Torsion wouldn\'t show up on a cat scan, you would need a pelvic ultrasound to check for that. I think you would at least get twinges of pain in your lower abdomen if you had that.
Sorry if the email sounds choppy.I guess what I\'m doing is typing as I am brainstorming ideas that can cause clotting to form in other places than the legs.
When they tested you for clotting disorders, did they do the most sensitive Lupus antigoagulant test called the Dilute Russell Venom Viper Test (DRVVT). Because I have the same problem. I seem to reclot when my INR gets on the low end of what everyone else calls therapeutic. But the normal test that they do for lupus anticoagulant has always come back normal, and they have tested me 5 times with that one. The DRVVT is more sensitive for picking up the lupus anticoagulant antibody. I don\'\'t know if all labs test for it or not, so you might ask if your doctor ran this test, and if not, maybe call around to find a lab that does.

I\'m hoping that your colonoscopy goes well though. I have to have one too, but have been putting it off. My hubby goes for one in another week, and so I\'m waiting until he has his before I schedule mine.
