Today, Ray serves as pioneering leadership for PaceMateLIVE, the customized cardiac implantable electronic device monitoring Software+Service solution produced by PaceMate™. Her goal is to add a unique level of compassion to the brand, setting a standard of equality in the medical workspace and causing it to shine through in the company’s customer service, mission, and core values. Jamien started his career in technology investment banking for RBC, before joining early-stage venture capital fund New Cycle Capital investing in healthcare and fintech. He then co-founded Doctorbase a HIPAA secure physician-patient messaging platform used by over 25,000 healthcare providers and 10 million patients. He is former Chair of the FDA Circulatory System Medical Device Advisory Committee and is a former member of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Coverage Advisory Committee. Dr. Maisel received his undergraduate degree in biology from MIT, his medical degree from Cornell Medical College, and his Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Duke joined the AMPATH consortium in 2009 with support from a National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute grant to create a cardiovascular and pulmonary disease Center of Excellence. The Cardiovascular Center of Excellence partnership has been a joint effort led by the Hubert-Yeargan Center for Global Health , the Duke Clinical Research Institute and Duke Heart, with initial leadership from Duke faculty members Eric Velazquez and Gerald Bloomfield. Arges and others are working to raise funds to ensure that all 70 patients currently enrolled in the clinical trial can receive compassionate use of stem cells upon completion of Phase 2.
Bloomfield, Ngeno, Lawrence and others have been pillars leading the development of clinical programs and research with our colleagues at MTRH. They’ve done incredible work National Harbor cardiologists in El Doret and we look forward to all they will continue to accomplish. The AMPATH Global Gathering was held last weekend in Indianapolis and Duke was well represented.
Zak LoringZak Loring, MD has been awarded a Durham VA Health Services Research & Development ADAPT COIN pilot study grant for his proposal Improving Disparities in Atrial Fibrillation Care Through ECG-based Machine Learning Risk Models. This is a 1-year preliminary project award worth $50,000 aimed at enhancing healthcare equity. Dr. Patel’s new responsibilities will include supporting the implementation of the clinical strategic plan for the Department with a focus on internal and external partnerships. He will represent the Department of Medicine in agreements with external entities by coordinating efforts with the DUHS strategic planning office.
Mark joined Medtronic in July of 2003 and has held multiple positions across the organization in Healthcare Economics, Market Access, Strategic Pricing, and Marketing. During his career at Medtronic Mark has been recognized as a thought leader in value based healthcare, economic evidence generation, and market access strategies. In Zoology from the University of Florida with emphasis on animal adaptation and survival strategies and also completed CV Disease fellowship at UF Shands Jax. In 2014 he received an MBA from Universiteit Maastricht after defending the masters thesis "Implantable Device Based Data Management Through Patient Engagement" at Handelshochschule Leipzig. As a key player in the 2013 landmark SCOTUS decision scrapping gene patents, Ardy played an instrumental role in expanding genetic testing access with the launch of BRCA testing benefiting patients and family members across the country.
He received his BS in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Physiology and MD from the University of Chicago. Dr. Murphy's research interests include the creation of query methods for healthcare data that enable them to be directly used by scientists even when the data is extremely large. The past 35 years, Dr Mirro has focused his clinical work on implantation of CIEDs and clinical investigation into new and advanced technology to enhance CIED function.
In many homes it is marked by cleaning and setting up decorations, symbols, and of course many lights. My daughter was able to perform in a traditional dance at the local temple, and we were fortunate enough to have her grandparents present. After several years of challenges to our communities, health care systems, and scientific communities, we hope whether you celebrate Diwali or not, you have some time over the fall to spend with family and loved ones. Dr. Essien has also received nearly $2 million in research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, the American Heart Association, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Mark J. Day serves as iRhythm's Chief Technology Officer and was formerly the Executive Vice President of Research & Development. He has had other leadership roles in Research & Development and systems development since joining in 2007.
Jennifer S. Li, MD, is the senior author of the paper and a professor in the departments of Pediatrics and Medicine at Duke. The main focus was whether prophylactic steroid use reduced any of more than a dozen complications, including death and heart transplant, compared to a placebo. ORA will be back up to speed with a full team on Jan. 3, 2023 and will look forward to managing all pending issues at that time. The Duke Health Office of Culture and Well-being is offering a Grief Symposium 2022 on Tues., Nov. 15 and a panel discussion on Wed., Nov. 16. Eventually, Duke University Hospital unit 7100 will be relocated to allow for renovations which will occur sometime after the start of the year.

Dr. Wadhwa has served on the physician advisory boards of Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Biotronik, St. Jude Medical and Sanofi-Aventis, and is a fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society and American College of Cardiology . Dr. Wadhwa has authored numerous medical papers and lectures on clinical issues in cardiac electrophysiology. Dr. Poole is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. She obtained her MD from the University of Washington, as well as Cardiology and Electrophysiology fellowship training. She is a UW faculty Electrophysiologist and until recently had been the EP Section Head for over 20 years and was also the EP Fellowship Director for 14 of those years.
