Sure, we should all be pushing for cleaner air, but only when it doesn't mean having to replace a £1,200 DPF filter on a £5K car. Cutting a DPF from an engine and then reprogramming engine management software is illegal. Some people suggest it to save costs, but it is classed as an offence under The Road Vehicles Regulations 1996. Your insurance becomes invalid and if it's found missing during an MOT, the vehicle will be failed.
A warning light will appear on the dashboard and shouldn't be ignored - if the filter fills completely your car won't run properly. It is our experience that many garages including main dealers are not knowledgeable in DPF and related issues. Our dealers often see customers after they have spent a lot of money on the wrong fixes as the DPF fault was not correctly diagnosed. For regeneration to take place it requires the vehicle to be driven regularly at some speed on open roads e.g. motorway driving, typically driving at around 2500 RPM for approx. 15-30mins at least once a month, this will keep things working.

Then again, the car is doing 60 miles a day on motorway at 65mph for a least 30 minutes. They now have my car and I have a small dealers car while I wait for outcome. I need my large Nissan Xtrail and tow bar for trailer and job. Lost productivity and time sorting and taking it to be fixed. If it were not for dpf i do like the Xtrail and would keep getting one every three years.
I dont condone this practice and but i think you will fine that the major reason people have them removed is for the sheer problems they cause. Perhaps the main issue is with the concept or the quality of manufacture who knows. But i recon not so many people would be taking the option of removing them if they worked more efficiently. Cows and Sheep produce 10’000 times more greenhouse gases than diesel cars. Merchant ships and cruise liners produce 10,000,000 times more greenhouse gases than diesel cars. We were encouraged buy diesel cars but the main problem esp in London are diesel taxis and busses that have done 250,000 plus miles with knackered worn out engines and are the main polluters.
A standard diesel TerraClean service will help to remove particles from your DPF as part of a preventative maintenance programme. If the problem is not addressed, the vehicle’s performance will deplete, the vehicle may go into “limp mode” and DPF Delete Birmingham become unusable until the issue is resolved. For a wide variety of reasons, DPFs do not always regenerate when they should, usually due to driving style or conditions, or for technical reasons, such as a problem elsewhere in the engine.
After all buses cannot visit everywhere at all times which a car can. So many local clubs would close and their activities which will be beneficial to people’s health and social well-being would also cease. There are many local activities that benefit society and rely heavily on the motor car. So many of these would cease that it would change society and my guess is that many people would simply stay at home and watch telly. This rapid change where cars become virtually banned would greatly reduce all transport activity across the whole country. A diesel MOT ’emissions’ test just measures the density of the particles of soot.
There are plenty of places you can get this done without it breaking the bank. If your DPF becomes permanently blocked all is not lost, places like Halfords can carry out forced regeneration which – for around £85 – clears your DPF by injecting it with cleaning agents. Or you can pay for a more expensive overnight deep soak. Active regeneration works by injecting extra fuel in order to increase the the temperature of the exhaust gases and burn off the soot in the DPF. It still requires a journey of a reasonable length though - around 10 minutes at 40mph or more is the suggested time.
This is the indicator of determining that the engine is, basically, running as intended and allowing for some deterioration as the engine and its systems age. There is not much point in taking it off should you blow black smoke with the police behind you and they send you to a named garage that day. This is not unlikely to happen, more especially moving forwards. Do you think that after paying the fine, which will be increased, and with points, perhaps disqualification, that they just permit you to drive away? We have to bite the bullet, and if necessary just bin the £15000 we spent on our diesel van.
So I suggest you make a thread and there are quite few experienced people here who can help. My initial advise - it is definitely not the chain and as long as smoke is not excessive black, it is not DPF either. Unlike other DPF cleaning procedures, the Launch DPF tool can be applied directly to a vehicle’s DPF without removal or other unnecessary work. I have just been informed this was Unsuccessful and pdf light off but engine light still on. Advice to run it hard on the motorway in 4 and 5 gear despite it being a 2L dci. Advised me likely require a new dpf £1500 part within 18 months. Reason again that we weren’t running it in a way that suits it ie hard.
Software bypass will be available to upgrade ECU to still bypass new rule and not needed to be refitted. You would have to be an idiot not to put it back on for the Mot it’s a really quick job. If the ends aren’t straight to do that, cut a flap on the top to remove the core, then reweld the empty pipe shut. Or just fit an exhaust system that doesn’t have the DPF.

I took delivery in August and my December 2013 my DPF was blocked.
