Car Accident
What a day yesterday. Got a call at noon youngest son in car accident. Thank God he was fine. Will be bruised and sore from seat belt and air bag, but standing outside the car when I got there. Old lady drove across the highway in front of him. Guess she didn't see him. He said he saw her in the median area, but thought she was waiting there for a chance to cross. Then she pulled out in front of him. He definitely had the right of way as this is a 55mph highway and this was just a small country type crossroad with a stop sign. Several witnesses stopped to tell the cops it was her fault. Good thing as he is only 18, she was 69 and the first thing she did was ask if he had been texting. I think he's sent two texts in his entire life, but of course he is young so his fault for texting when she was the one trying to get across the busy hwy.... Rude witch she is lucky I didn't smack her.
He was driving a bitty 4 cylinder Chevy. She was in a Tahoe. Our little car protected its baby well. It smashed in the entire engine area, but flipped that Tahoe completely over and didn't even crack the windshield. The air bags went off otherwise the passenger area was pristine.
Spent the rest of the day dealing with insurance and buying a new car. Thank goodness I paid off my car in May or wouldn't be able to do that. We managed a whole two months without a car payment. Sigh.
Youngest son playing tough and although hugged me tight when I got to the accident and was trying not to cry, now going on about how I freaked out at the accident, and how he didn't need me. Still very grateful he is ok.

OMG ...SO glad he is ok!.........My 21 year old was in an accident when he was 18.A passenger in a car and the air-bag went off and he turned his head.It hit him full force in the ear and he got permanent hearing loss in that ear.Your son is very lucky to be ok and that woman sounds like a real witch that hit him.I\'m just so happy he\'s ok...thank god!
