Can you separate fiction from reality?
The past two days I attended a jury selection process. I was not selected because of personal schedule conflicts, but it was a very interesting affair. One of the judge's questions I found to be a sad commentary on the general state of people today. The mere fact that he would find it necessary to ask this question disturbs me.I don't remember the exact wording, not recognizing many of the TV shows he listed, but the gist of it was this: "Do any of you who watch crime, police investigation, attorney, or trial shows on television such as (list of shows) have any preconceived ideas about how police investigations, attorney practices, or trials should be conducted?"ER was one of my favorite shows back when I watched TV, but I never for even a moment believed that it represented real doctors and nurses in a real emergency room. Good Lord, I hope nobody thinks Ally McBeal is representative of attorneys!!
