Can't Sleep
Wayne and I will be celebrating 20 years together at the end of this coming week. At first I had a moment of excitement...you know...the WOW...I have been sleeping with the same guy for 20 years...who would have thunk it??? But my humor soon faded...the tears came and it took me away for few minutes...remembering once again why our wedding was so very special in so many ways.
Wayne and I met quite accidentally through a few mutual friends...he asked me to marry him the exact same day we had met, only one year later...He has asked the girls first if he could "Pop the question"...the girls were elated and of course so was I...But I did make him wait for another three years before I actually walked down the isle with him...I had my reasons, none of which I can recall now...
I have the wedding tape cued up and ready to watch again,,,and MayLyn and Alexsis are right there beside me while the preacher says all those lovely words about devotion and love forever and ever...till death do we part...
That I figure is where the tesrs came in...the memory of...
As I looked into his eyes and said "I do" ...then there was a total pause....as Wayne pulled from his vest two solid gold bands....I was confused to say the least but I trusted him completely...as I watched Wayne and the preacher exchanged nods with each other and the preacher began again with words of...protect you with my life...love you like my own...through the good and the bad...forever and ever. Wayne had those two gold bands blessed and he put one on each of the girls right ring finger...blew me completely away..I was for the first time in my life at a loss for words.
The only thing my husband said while we stood at the side of MayLyn;s ciffin was "Oh God forgive me, I promised to protect her". It hit me so hard this morning I have been crying constantly...cannot stop...I will go to sleep this morning in his arms crying and I promise it won't be for the for time nor that last time. I am just upset because I had never put those two events together before...and when I did it crushed me once again...how his heart was broken that day too...and I was so blind with sadness,,,I never saw it. I know he loves me and the girls so much...Thank you God for the gift of Wayne...my rock...my hero...my salvation.
Good night sweet ladies....
Walking beside you always...

That is the sweetest story, it made me cry.
Oh Jacqueline, my tears are flowing too. That is the sweetest story about Wayne marrying you and the girls. What a wonderful guy he is. Sometimes I am so overwhelmed in my own grief that I forget how my husband too is suffering in sadness. Congratulations on 20 years to a wonderful man and congratulations to him for marrying a a wonderful woman and two beautiful daughters. MayLyn is watching over you both. Hugs, Kim
Made me cry too. What a wonderful guy Wayne is. You are lucky to have him....
Jacqueline, Beautiful yet bittersweet story. How deep this man\'s love for you. It extended to your daughters, his daughters too then, now & forever. I\'m crying with you. I thank God you have this loving man in your life & what a treasure. Someone else who loved MayLyn the way you do. Hold onto the fact that she had you & Wayne to love her unconditionally. MayLyn had so much love in her life & nothing can ever change that. Congratulations on your anniversary & life together. God bless you both. Love always to you & precious, precious MayLyn. Linda
What a gift that you found one another and that you to continue to be there for one another. So much love... that is what it\'s all about. Happy Anniversary to you and all the cherished days leading up to it and days after. Your daughter\'s lives have been enriched and I suspect MayLyn understands things now that only she can. Much love for your tender hearts. Joanie
a tear jerker for sure.....You are so blessed to have a man in your life who included your girls in the vows of your marriage.....such sensitivity and love speaks well of a man who takes on a whole family as his own. Yes, you should celebrate with fireworks dear friend....many women out there would be envious. My heart goes out to Wayne....it was never in his control about MayLyn...or any of us, really ...to have that kind of power. Cherish him ....I pray you will have another 20 plus years together!! Happy Anniversary...love, dale...brandon\'s mom
What a lovely story and what a wonderful man. It is great to have that connection, that sharing. My husband never knew my son. Makes it a little harder (sometimes impossible) to share the grief. Love and hugs, Beth
