Can't see the LIGHT for the trees

Hello Everyone~
When I was teaching the Sunday School class at my brothers back in Oct., I shared with the grp. that I had been hiking the day before and the few times I looked up (was always looking down watching where I was walking) I got glimpses of light thru the trees. When I got past all the trees, to the top of the mountain, the Light was amazing!
This past week things have been what I call "strange/weird feeling like regression." Lots of TREES were blocking my Light. Holiday flashbacks, lots of sadness/grief, and lots of should'a would'a and could'a. My focus seemed to be on the past and  not the present; my focus seemed to be looking down and not up. Anyway, during this time I was not able to meditate; leading me to some frustration as I wanted to sense what was going on with me.
This morning in my meditation, I was led thru a myriad of emotions, reliving much of my past from childhood Thanksgiving's, my personal Thanksgiving's I had hosted and my Thanksgiving Thursday. How very much things had changed. Then, after the myriad of emotions, a profound awareness came to me and that's how many transitions I have gone thru; how I have embraced the changes and accepted things as they are.. How much I have personally grown over the many Thanksgivings. It's not all the noise, chaos, work, as it used to be; but my life is not the noise, chaos and work it used to be either. How true is the statement "As within so without." I sat boundaries, I accepted people where they were; and there was no anger attached. I think I'm in a foreign land (terra incognita) and I'm not quite sure how to accept all this tranquillity yet and give thanks for the journey. So, in the meditation, I was able to EMBRACE everything, acknowledge the trees that were keeping me from seeing the Light because without those "trees" I WOULD NOT BE THE PERSON I AM TODAY!
I AM GRATEFUL I TOOK THAT HIKE AND I AM GRATEFUL I LOOKED UP THRU THE TREES EVERY NOW AND THEN. AMAZING GRACE!
Have a blessed day.

Wonderful Vicki. I walk in the woods with my dog every day and in a recent bad patch I noticed I was walking without looking up. I was just feeling sorry for myself and looking at the ground as I walked missing so much....the trees, squirrels, birds and the light.
Your entry reminded me of this.
I think it is hard to embrace quiet occasions when we were used to such a busy but rather volatile time in the past on these occasions. I think I try to plan to keep myself happy and focused.

Sending you big hugs xxx

Hi Vicki,

I really liked this reflection, too. Things change as we move through difference places in our journey. Different does not equal negative. :-) And what was a positive for us yesterday might not be what we need today.

Hugs,

It seems to me that your experience of Thanksgiving was quite authentic. You truly reflected and gave thanks. You brought meaning to Thanksgiving in a real way. You defined it for yourself rather than letting others define it for you.
