Disillusioned by the university concert and what had happened to the Dove recording, a project he led out in, he put his guitar and banjo in a closet, rarely touching them and then only to try out a tune and lyric that had come to mind. In the earliest days of the formation of Wedgwood there had been talk of its becoming a full-time entity and possibly breaking into mainstream music outside the church. The realities of what it would take to pursue that course and now the loss of support from within the church that had been its base ended that possibility.
Hoyle, who had been teaching at Loma Linda Academy, went through a traumatic divorce about the time of the group's ending. He briefly worked as a medical social worker and then enrolled in a doctoral program in clinical psychology. After completing a Ph.D. in that area, he did a post-doctoral internship in the LLU department of psychiatry and eventually became a clinical faculty member there, a position he still holds.
Children enjoy summer experiences that have been thoughtfully designed just for them. Camp activities include immersive zoo tours, behind-the-scene experiences, keeper chats, special up-close visits with animal ambassadors and more. In private music lessons, our students learn one-on-one from some of the most talented music educators in the area. Suzanne has been a part of the EMC Performing Arts Studio team since 2010. Her daughter attended EMC Performing Arts Studio from the age of 8, recently graduated from EMC in 2021 and is currently pursuing her career in Musical Theater. Alli has been involved with cheerleading and has been a Varsity cheerleader at Susquehannock High School. She also enjoys tumbling, choreography, theatre, and singing in the Company of Praise Youth Choir. As a founding member, Robin has been generous in sharing her knowledge and experience with studio owners around the country through DSO Connect and her podcast.
She has attended the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, Buffet Crampon Clarinet Festival, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and Rocky Ridge Summer Music Festival. In 2019, her woodwind quintet Longs Peak Five was awarded third place in the Rocky Ridge Chamber Music Competition. She worked as a freelance performer in the Kansas City area performing as a pit orchestra and community orchestra musician. She has been teaching piano, voice, guitar, and ukulele for 8 years. Her mission is to help her students grow in their love for music, explore different styles of music, and play their instruments with excellence. She has a heart for children with disabilities and has begun learning sign language hoping to find opportunities to teach dance to hearing impaired children.
Although Vollmer was hesitant, they and their families met at Hoyle's home where, following a meal together, they tuned their instruments and began to sing. It was an emotional reunion that started with “Down in the Valley”and ended with “Shall We gather at the River,” the song they had used as the ending number at every concert they had given as the Wedgwood Trio. Inspired by that informal reunion, they agreed that they would perform together again as the Wedgwood Trio, if invited to do so in the future.
Our music school takes learning and fun to the next level, combining private lessons with band sessions. Students learn the songs they love, let loose with peer jam sessions, and even get a chance to perform live! Through our programs, expert and beginner players alike can build core music skills.
Led by local educators in schools throughout Maryland, the weeklong Camp Invention experience immerses elementary school children in exciting hands-on activities that reinvent summer fun. A few featured activities include building original prototypes, creating a personalized motor-powered vehicle and taking apart electronics to construct an epic insect-themed pinball machine. Each lesson explores connections between science, technology, The Music Dept Recording Studio engineering and innovation. The Marsh, a day camp at Sandy Cove, offers fun, challenge, excitement, and opportunities for learning and spiritual growth in an environment designed specifically for kids. With a ratio of one staff member for every six campers, we will get to know your child personally. Activities include archery, indoor climbing, cooking, nature studies, paddle boats, sports, swimming, zip line and religious study.
ZAM, the double album underground breakout release from Los Angeles psych heavyweights Frankie and the Witch Fingers, completely out of print since its initial release in 2018. Returning to vinyl for the first time in decades, this reissue features all-analog remastering by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and is pressed on 180-gram purple vinyl LP. First released in 1993 as a vinyl EP and a split CD with Emperor, Enslaved's Hordanes Land is considered a key release in the development of Viking metal.
At School of Rock Silver Spring, our keyboard lessons for kids and adults are designed to help students get results. Intermediate and advanced students take skills learned from beginner keyboard lessons and layer on more advanced piano techniques with concepts. Our local keyboard instructors are all practicing musicians in Silver Spring, and use popular rock songs as a way of teaching complex skills. We pair weekly private piano lessons with weekly band rehearsals to inspire and engage students throughout the learning process. All of our music programs for kids, teens, and adults are designed to help students gain amazing musical proficiency.
