Came to my senses....finally
After hitting another "rock bottom" several weeks ago, I really pondered my existence and purpose in this life. Addiction keeps us from our true potential and purpose. I looked back and saw how my selfishness had hurt the ones I had proposed to have loved the most, yet my words meant nothing compared to my actions. I have lied to myself and allowed deceptions to rule my life too long. I began praying, reading & studying scripture, and writing in my journal daily. After a while, I started yearning to report my feelings in my journal, but prayer and pondering the Atonement of Christ was the main focus. He (Jesus) gave His life freely to conquer death and sin for us, and the Atonement has the power to overshadow the feelings of temptation if we let it...if we yield our will to His. The burdens of sin began to lift from me, and I started to "feel" again. I believe with enough faith, hope, and actual work (focus), the transformation can happen in a very short period of time. The struggle is consistency and continuing on the straight path. I feel like a new man now; ashamed of my past behavior, yearning to make right all my wrongs, and humbled by the grace of the Almighty.
