CALLING ALL COMPUTER GEEKS
Hi thanks for stopping by. : ) I'm having trouble with my pc. It turns on when I press the on button, has the blue light and makes a little noise but will not really turn on so I've been having to turn it on, then off manually, then on, then off. Today I did this like 7 or 8 times then she finally took and was on. It's getting worse and I have no clue whatsoever what could cause this. Please help with all ideas or suggestions! It sounds as if you might be having trouble with your fan. A desktop will not start up if the fan does not come on first. Laptops will though - they\'ll just overheat later... I\'d take a vacuum hose, put it up to the fan vents on your computer case, and run the vacuum for a couple of minutes. It might suck out whatever is intermittently clogging your fan.

Wow, only one response here but I think you hit the nail on the head. I put it on sleep mode earlier today and it would never get out of it lol. Finally this evening I pulled the power cord out and plugged back in and turned her on and she stayed on with the fan constantly running, I was like \"What?!!\", weird computer anyhow but so did the on/off sequence and she came alive and that fan got quiet. I will vacuum those vents up good in the morning.

what kind of antivirus, and anti spyware do you have on it now? i have one called advanced system care professional, i got a free upgrade. it does alot of stuff including cleaning the registry and checking for hijacked settings and looking for spyware. i sent it to suyb when she was having trouble, but my friend had trouble with it to work. if i get that worked out so it unpacks ok, ill be glad to send it to your email. its a great tool to have. there are some other things too, that you can find without going to a tech. do you have xp or vista?
im no expert on these things at all, just know about some of this software and stuff from my own problems.
the other thing you might routinely do, just as a back up, is keep an eye on the free listings on craigslist, pple will sometime pitch older working computers, thats this throw away world we live in. but if you watch those ads, you might come across one you can snag for free to use as a back up, just incase yours does have problems. when my broke i about went nuts, its my only link to the outside world so to speak. i dont even have a tv anymore, nothing on it anyway. ue to have the dish network, do miss the old movies but not much else on the i cared for.

I have tons of anti-virus, anti-malware, crap cleaner stuff on it and update it all every couple of days. This pc is scanned a handful of times everyday. From the way it has been acting and the fan thing earlier before it turned on today I am positive that orchid is right about the fan. I had one go wild on me once and crash from viruses and another that was getting all whacked which had a trojan horse on it. The computer is functioning just fine it\'s just been this getting it turned on deal. Thanks for your reply. : )

ok thats good then, still if you find a free one as a back up just in case, its a good idea. i have one here im gonna try and buy a disk and see if i can fix it from that, so i have a spare, if this one dies ill lose my marbles that much more still..
Sherry if there a lot of dust inside, the best way to fix that is to take the outside case off the PC, then us a small computer type vacuum to clean that out, I usually will take that canned air and give it a few key work few short blasts and that will also clear that out. bear in mind that you have to unplug all your devices from the pc and the power too. When you put it all back together it might be a little tricky to get it to connect to the internet, check all the cable connections etc, you may have to release and renew the ip to get it back online. If you run though a router, you might need to connect straight from modem to pc, get online , then connect the router and power them both off , then power up the modem first wait till you get all the corrects lights, then plug the router in, wait for it to synch up then try getting online.
I blew canned air all over it and especially the vent areas. Uhm, I also was informed by my friend that I had stuff right next to it covering some vents, oooops. I moved the stuff. She\'s working now. Thanks all.
