Caging Anthony II
I got myself to type in the first web address to begin the tedious process of calibrating my new laptop to the latest greatest zooms and booms of creating art on the information highway. I got through the first page of account creation/registration before I dumped out of the site and came here to vent. I'm still not doing well at embracing yet another learning curve to climb between here and my art therapy. Yes, learning new tricks can be therapeutic in itself, but I've been on the tech learning curve for 46 years. That doesnae make tech the most balanced choice for therapeutic learning. Balance in all things. Back to feeling delusional for letting myself flirt with thinking I am an artist and computer is my medium. Every time I get the variables calibrated to where I can spend more time art farting than learning and calibrating new tech, the internet sneezes, marketing departments get hungry and/or it is time to let *progress* put me on the bottom of the learning curve again.

Is it a peculiar psycho evolution that the Picasso in my head is fussing about the way I've been dropping his name in reference to the Anthony Hopkins/Pablo Picasso kluge in this particular psychotic development? While my imaginary Picasso seems to acknowledge that Anthony Hopkins portrayed a great tribute to his life, his puppet ego wants me to keep it authentic.
Back off, Puppet Picasso. . . I'm crazy enough already!

Most free sites are paid for with adverts, which make them harder to get into. I did a lot of work in Photoshop with the screen as a canvas and the tools my brushes. I also used it for photos every now and then, Some said it was harder to learn but I didn't feel that way. The solitude and ability to set aside and comeback when I wanted far outweighed the cost. I found "Paint" that comes with most machines to be limiting since I couldn't play in layers.
I am currently without use since the computer it is loaded on is out of order. I don't think this recycle Gateway can handle the program or I would re-load. I miss it too.

A quality of starting my computer career in the 70's when all programming was custom is that I don't really see one program as harder to learn than another. Little things make big diffs in ALL of them. Whether I'm working through piecemeal free apps or the bigger single source programs, the calibrations are the hard part. Kinda like the way artistic painters describe the picayune details that go in to working with a new brush or paint. Getting the colors on my screen to come out on my printer is a challenge, all by itself. Don't fuck with my calibrations.
Learning the programs isn't fucking with me anywhere near as much as the thought of recalibrating the next time there is a sneeze on the worldwide web. Do I really have to give a rat's ass what the worldwide web is doing while I am trying to discover the world reflected in a drop of water or the subtle lights of a gossamer thread? Those arenae the moments I care to worry about the winds of the information highway. It pisses me off that those winds are forced on me with zero respect for my works in progress.

Good morning arfie. Yes anything that comes between me and my artistic expression in whatever form it happens to tinkle my mind with at the time is approached with fists and stomps and howls. Breathing helps but not as much as powerful music and a cuss or two hundred. Triple hugs.
If you need Adobe Photoshop for free, let me know lol....I can get free software from various sources. ;-) Yea I dislike having to set up Windows 10, where it won't spy on you. I normally turn off all the Cortana features. They claim they save snippets of your text to make searches easier..bleh I hate that. I turn all those features off. I don't put in a windows account username and password. I always skip the account creation. Windows is a necessary evil.
Lots of hugs & support, Arfie. 20 years ago I was tech savvy, could build and program but now I barely can understand how to work a new cell phone. I’ve never been internet friendly on purpose.
It used to be the majority of my writing, from novels to short stories were done on the computer, but primarily my novels and research for them. But I’ve always had the irrational fear of the Internet causing me to get hacked. My eldest borrowed my laptop just once for a school assignment for a week & I ended up with a virus that completely corrupted all my word programs so I may be able to open them but can’t print or email any.
Then nightmare of nightmares came last spring’s hack that started with my husband’s computer, took out two more, two tablets and two cell phones.
So definitely not tech savvy anymore. If it wasn’t for the security of Apple products, I would never go online again.
