Cabbage

One of the first vegetables ever harvested by man was cabbage.  It was removed from the shores in the form of sea cabbage.  It was first planted between the Tigris and Eufrates Rivers in the Fertile Cresent, Babylon, modern day Iraq.  Some of the forms of cabbage are Green Cabbage, Purple Cabbage, Napa Cabbage, Bok Choy and others.  Cabbage was selectivly bred by botanist for years, from cabbage we have Broccolli, Cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts.  It was on Thomas Jefferson's estate, Montichello, that Brusell Sprout were first planted.  The producer of the James Bond series of movies was Albert R. Broccoli of the Broccoli family of Italy.
