C. Cushman - the year is 1290//68 degrees and sunny//pruned vines, on phone with h, L, rn, p

"The year is 1290 ... the food, dress, manners, health, medical practices, and sanitary habits (or lack thereof) of the people of her day.    From the number of fleas she kills in an evening to her herbal medicines laced with urine, Birdy tells facts about her time period.    She is depicted as a feminist far ahead of her time.   An afterword discusses the mind set of medieval people ... the year is 1290 ... "
By C. Cushman (she's excellent)

there used to be a place in south florida where they actually DID that.  small town, far away from everything else ... open to the public ... kind of like the twilight zone.
Today, is wednesday, september 12, 1902.  they would have the radio of that day going all day long.  since its south florida, and fashion doesn't change all that much when its 90 degrees (nearly naked, is nearly naked.  lol.  and a swim top and baggy shorts is just that, doesn't matter what year it is), it was almost confusing.  you kind of look at each other like WHAT.  not quite sure what is happening.  lol.  miss that actually.

had another dizzy spell.  very scary.  always scary.  i took a blood pressure pill and a potassium and it went away.  not sure if that is what it was or if it was from motion, watching the letters as i type can make me dizzy sometimes.  its gone now.  yay!

talked to hazel who adopted from us a couple of weeks ago and wanted me to know she is THRILLED with the cat.  so glad.  she has a groomer coming to the house to cut its nails and take care of it and the carrier she bought has wheels, so she can take it for walks.  she says the animal just walks right in and out they go.  love it when adoptions click.  she is a retired executive from new york, she, her daughter and her daughter's friend ended up retiring here at the same time and live within a few blocks of each other.  he has ms and her daughter something similar to it.  amazing.  similar to mry's situation, her daughter is sicker than her, and a former executive as well.  even though mry is the older of the two.

fairly quiet today.  still adjusting to that.  searched for cars (boring).  talked to lili who is having trouble with her doctor and called out of nowhere.  she used to do bird rescue and stopped and at the minute she is upsidedown on her house mortgage and her salon is super slow.  amazing because every time i go there, its packed.
the cat that had surgery is doing well and taking her antibiotics.
louie's fur is growing in, but he is still too skinny and it worries me because when leo died he had gotten all skinny like that, ditto with p's cat ... i always assume its parasites, which is fixable, but sometimes its not that.  need to take another class in animals or diagnostics of animals or something.
rn called because the small dog her neighbor bought to replace the pit they no longer have, was being severely neglected and needs to get fixed as well (she was "crating it" in a dog carrier, instead of a large dog cage (i'm not for caging at all, so that much worse), so getting the pup fixed etc., will be next.  its under a year old.  rn just lost a dog and i told her to keep it.  small dogs are easier as you get older.  don't know if she will though, dogs are more work than cats.
was 68 degrees today.  beautiful!  nice and sunny.  i pruned the poisonous vines in the back and weeded a little.  cracks me up.  i enjoy it because its mindless and gets me outside and bending and all that.  ten+ years ago when i was still active and normal i would NEVER have been weeding or pruning while outside.  amazing how much things change.  swimming, or reading and lounging, or walking the beach a mile or two, would be more like it.  lol.  really need to get back to it if possible.

The year is 1290! WOW, can you imagine! I love that whole concept for a show! I always wish I had lived in the 18th century. I\'d be Scarlet O\'Hara....with the long full dresses and the big mansions, and the long tcurls....and petticoats. I dunno. I\'m a jeans and T-shirt woman. Maybe I just long for that \"womanliness\"!!! However, I ain\'t gonna \"swoon\" over nobody! LOL!

Glad the cat adoption clicked, and happy that sick kitty is doing well on the antibiotics!!

It is amazing what we were doing when we younger and in healthy bodies. We just have to accept who and what we are now, and do the best we can. I think you do a good job of that!

quoting desiderata, that is where i\'m at for the passed few years \"gracefully surrendering the things of youth ... \" or to quote L. Kelly, \"Don\'t judge me by who I used to be. I don\'t live there anymore.\"

\"Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world...\"
