Busy week
I had a busy week. Our community group is planning an international day in September in our neighbourhood. We have a wide variety of nationalities and socioeconomic levels where we live. We have decided what we want to do. Now we need to involve people from the cultural groups. The Chinese community is eager. Our Lebanese grocer is eager to participate and the Italian community is offering their cultural center as it is at the bottom of our hill. My neighbour and I spent 2 afternoons out meeting people and will be out next week too.
I honestly feel better when I am busy.
I have been walking every day and feel so much better. I did about 4 - 5 miles today. I walked to the furthest grocery store (within reason) and back home with a bag of vegetables. The hill is getting easier!!
The BEST news is that our room is booked in Tahoe! I was hesitating a bit but Cevyn (our granddaughter) wants to go to LA and Seattle. So we decided that Tahoe is not that far away so it was really easy to decide to go. I am not sure if Cevyn will participate in the retreat with me but I would like her to. She is our pride and joy.
We called Cevyn every day for 3 years (her dad was distracted and worked a lot). Cevyn went home to an empty desolate house after school. We didn't want her to feel alone. For the last year, our calls have been weekly, sometimes less. Her stepmother is usually home after school and her dad's office is at home. She's a teenager and busy so we were not too bothered. Well the last couple of weeks, she has been calling us almost daily. She is getting excited about grad - she bought her dress yesterday. She has also joined the rugby team. She wants to get in to shape for grad and she said that she gets really irritated with some people so figured the contact sport might help her get the feelings out. I personally believe that she is grieving her mom's death so I am glad she has an outlet. She paints as well which is great.
So this week, life is good.
Lisa: I wish you were here so we could brag about Cevyn together. She is such an awesome young woman. I miss you always and love you forever. Mummy

I\'m like you--I feel better when busier-especially interacting with friends. (I had fun today!) That sounds like a fun \"international\" event to plan--you are so valuable to your community! It is very much a compliment to you both-- that Cevyn calls very often and feels free to speak openly about her goings on. You are a real blessing for Cevyn and a wonderful grandmother, also! Have a wonderful Sunday :-) Love, Donna
What a blessing you have with Cevyn! XOX, Debbie
Cevyn must be such a well rounded young lady. Your relationship is a blessing for each of you. I\'m so glad you have lots of communication together and she shares so openly with you. Her mother\'s loving influence is evident.
Love and blessings,
Debbie
You always have so much going on!!!
Looking forward to meeting Cevyn and seeing you again!!!
\"This week, life is good\".....INDEED!
Love you!
Love to Lisa!
Weeks such as this are a balm for one\'s soul. Grateful you had one and way to go with the walking. :)
Your relationship with Cevyn is life sustaining for all of you and she sounds as if she\'s living life as a teenager does. Lots going on! :)
Loving care dearest Marlene and hoping for another week that feels good.

Yay!! Chevyn is coming! My granddaughter Barbara is coming too. I hope our \"girls\" will choose to participate in some way at the retreat, but whatever their choice I think they will benefit by being there.
I\'m sure they will get some hugs! :)
Glad you had a busy week filled with the fun kind and what you enjoy. Those are the best! That would be so interesting meeting all the different peoples and learning about their cultures etc.. - Good for you on the walking! I have been trying to get myself back into that too. So you have encouraged me! - Your granddaughter is Blessed to have you in her life. She sounds like a Blessing to you as well. I bet she is pretty excited for this venture with you this summer! Sure wish I could meet you all. Hugs, Dee
The International Day sounds like so much fun. I too feel better when I keep myself busy.
I\'m sure Lisa is so proud of Chevyn graduating as are you, but for sure her physical presence is missed at a time like this more than on other days if that\'s possible.
Tight hugs,
Terry
So happy for you and Chevyn. She sounds like she is very grounded. I hope she participates in the retreat too. I would love my daughter Penny to go someday but I don\'t think it\'s her thing. xoxoxo Connie
Marlene,
I am so happy for and with you. It is sounding like you have \"all your ducks in a row\" right now. I hope that means the same thing way up North!
Charley is a great dog to walk with so I plan to gently build up. Today though is is really dark, gray, and windy. It looks awful out there! Maybe a nap this afternoon. LOL
Love to you and your family,
Leda
