Busy, busy, busy!

Lots of driving last week for work, probably over 800 miles on my car.  I was 3 hrs North of here yesterday.  We got maybe an inch of snow.  They got way over a foot in the Pocono Moutains.  Got to drive around and see the snow and the skiers coming down the mountain and the lakes and the evergreens.  It was a Winter wonderland!  End of year pressure.  Also people calling me saying if I don't settle their claim soon, their kids will have no Christmas!  Ugh! Overall, very bad week for losing weight.  No diet, eating everything, no exercise, run down.  Coming down with something and today, cramps and TOM any minute now and bloating.  Blah! David says to counselor this week:  "My mom doesn't spend enough time with me."  You know, what parent does?  And I feel awful enough as it is.  I don't have time for baking and decorating Christmas gingerbread houses, and playing Monopoly.  I have to work, cook, clean.  And then there is Dr appointments, karate, decorating the house for Christmas, cards, laundry, the dog (and everything that goes along with that like feeding, walking and grooming.)  I am lucky though.  Paul does the dishes most of the time.  I do them on weekends.  He also pitches in with laundry during the week.  He takes the dog out first thing in the AM.  And he does all the outside stuff like cut the grass, gardening, etc.  But I felt like it was a slap in the face.  And I have to bake cupcakes for CRE this week and then next week is the Christmas party at karate, and I am automatically volunteered for baked cavatelli.  Oh, he told the counselor all I do it work and talk to Mom Mom on the phone (my mom.)  And the last 3 weeks, I have had to help him with homework more than normal since he can't write.  I guess that is not enough.   Hormones kicking in today as I feel weepy and that "not enough" feeling ain't helping! So to try to pick myself up, I am sitting here watching Hallmark Christmas movies and writing out my cards.  No stress.  Feel good.  And for today, the hell with the diet, although today isn't too bad.  Gonna go make some hot chocolate.  (I crave, crave, crave chocolate this time of the month!)  Kona is sleeping by my feet.  All curled up and fuzzy and watching her belly rise and fall with her breathing.  Very comforting.  Makes me feel blessed. I have to work this week and it is going to be chaos.  But I am off next week, the week of Christmas.  No work.  No CRE.  No bowling league.  No karate except the party.  I can bake cookies and wrap presents while David is at school.  Paul is putting my 2 trees up today.

I think all kids feel that way. I can spend an entire day focusing on just one of my kids, a day with mom all to themself, doing whatever they want, and at the end of the day, it still isn\'t enough. They always want more. It\'s a good thing, that they want more of us. We can\'t be that bad! lol
My brother-in-law always says that....doesn\'t matter how much you give to kids, they always want more. I think it\'s an instinct that has helped humans survive. Like if people in the 1800\'s had said...nah,that\'s good enough, we\'re satisfied, we don\'t need to progress or want more.....well then I\'d be having a REALLY cold old-fashioned winter night tonight!!
Enjoy the beautiful friend sleeping by your feet who loves you unconditionally and believes you can do no wrong!! I believe the same as Kona!
Love you!

I am so sorry David\'s talk with the counselor made you feel so down! As Laura said children can be very demanding and at times even selfish...You are a great Mom...don\'t dwell on it and let it get you down. Enjoy the Christmas movies and your furry friend...let your self relax a bit!

My Nana used to say \"kids will crucify you\". And it is true. My oldest is always playing the guilt game with me...she feels her normal teenage problems are somehow different and that she\'ll be scarred for life if I don\'t do this or I do do that.
It ALL comes down to me! Why? Because I am the parent who TRIES. I put the kids as up front on my agenda as a working Mom with physical limitations and no driver\'s license possibly can...and still it is never enough. Dad puts his girlfriend and her son first and still somehow comes out a hero in her eyes while Mom and Step Dad are blamed for any and all problems.
Your son is focusing on what he perceives as problems in HIS life but he probably isn\'t even thinking about You, the person...he is only thinking of You, the Mom...and how things seem to him. Everything is immediate gratification with kids. Pay attention to them NOW not 15 minutes from now when it is inconvenient for them. Do this NOW, no matter what else you have to do.
UGH...Joyce is right...don\'t dwell on it. I am sure the counselor has heard this song and dance before from most of the kids he/she deals with. Let it go...enjoy the holiday. I can almost guarantee in a few days David will be on to something else and you\'ll be exonerated.

Just reading what wonderful Joyce and wonderful Amy said, and it reminded me that children are often the hardest on the ones they love and trust the most. Because they are a safety net. Children can be hard on mom because mom will always be there for them, but they might go easier on a dad (like in Amy\'s scenario) because that dad is not a reliable for sure always there for me person. Not a safety net. To the people who provide unconditional love goes the blame, because those people have broad shoulders and can take the heat without any of the love diminishing.
