GGGGrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! Why can't I do MATH???? I didn't do so good on my math test today and I am really bummed out. I do not know why it intimidates me, but it does.

Mostly, practice makes perfect. Keep trying, practice, practice, and even more practice. What type of math are you doing?
Mostly, I think we let fear get the best of us, we \"borrow\" trouble when we go into a test by getting worried and stressing that we are going to fail, we usually second guess ourselves, (I know you do this a lot!) and then we shoot ourselves in the foot even before we start the test.
Have you ever thought you may have \"test anxiety\"? I bet you do, so maybe you need to do some deep breathing and stress relieving before you go into the test.
How do you do with the daily work? OK, or are there problems there? Is it you just don\'t know how the numbers work or do you do ok on the daily stuff but bottom out on the tests?

Geometry, business math (I can help there) calculas, algebra?

it\'s algebra in general like percent, and translation, variable expressions example: -7x + 3[x - (3 -2x)] six less than four timesa number is twenty two. find the number. anyway here are some examples. No I have some troubles on the daily stuff and so I use the tutoring service quite often, however, they say I know what to do when they look at my work but yet I feel so lost and confused with some of it and I know a lot of it has to do with low self esteem. So how do I get past this mental block or whatever it is that hinders my learning capabilities?
Do you recall where you used to work? How we always stressed \"repetition\" is the way to create the path ways in the participant\'s mind so they will know by rote what they \"should\" do? Sure, it was the same thing every day, every time. This is the difference between a \"normal\" person and a DD person. We have the ability to adapt to different problems in a given situation. So, i receommend you set yourself up some scales tables just like we did when we were learning our multiplication tables and do them every day. So you will learn the steps to these problems by rote.
I am not sure what the first series of numbers mean up there but I do know the answer to the second part is (4 x A)-6 = 22. The answer is 7. If you have to turn the problem around to where it is easier for you to figure, do so. Especially the written ones. or try to lay them all out in steps:
say the \"x\" is \"A\" which will eventually be a number, right? ok: from the back first:
2 x A = B (2x)
3 - B = C (3 - B) or (3 - 2x) as you wrote
A x C = D (A x C) or [x - (3-2x)] as you wrote
-7x + 3 x D = E this will be your answer. But if you ask me what the actual number (x) is, I can\'t tell you that because there is too many variables in there. Turn the problem as I wrote it backwards and you wil have the same problem you wrote. Does that make any sense? Probably not, but that is the way I would figure it. Gotta either have the answer to figure it backwards or what \"x\" is...
Faith, don\'t get discouraged. In \"real\" life, chances of you ever using algebra for anything is about slim to none. Trust me. I have worked with numbers for many years and still have never used any type of algebra to figure what I need. Besides, a ten key is much more feasible and WAY easier than trying to figure all the
a x b - c(2x+4)= ?? I know you have to have a pssing grade to get your credits on this but don\'t sweat it as bad as you have, please? If you pass, then you are doing well. Calm down, the answers are in there, you just need to relax and let them come to the surface and when you stress, it is like putting rocks on the answers as they are bubbling up to the surface. Trust yourself. You will be surprised.
Are you planning to become a rocket scientest? or a bio engineer? Or a chemical engineer? Don\'t think so, but they use algebra, not us common people. Even an accountant doesn\'t use this type of algebra. That is why they have the fancy calculators and the slide rulers and all the fancy equipment that we laymen don\'t have access to.
Be calm, my friend. I do understand, but I assure you, the chances of ever using this type of \"math\" is pretty skinny.
I know what you are saying,but at the same time I do have to learn it to move on to higher math and the longer it takes me to get through this course the longer it takes for me to get work that pays decent.
I do try to relax and I pray before doing the work so not sure where I\'m messing up.
