Korea pressed its citizens towards payment cards for more than a years. Financial inclusion is at the top of the order with more than 95% of its locals having a monetary account. Three-quarters of the nation use debit cards and majority own charge card.

The country rebounded after the Asian financial crisis almost twenty years earlier. Infrastructure and federal government support is robust. One of the reasons government supported the propagation of electronic payments is to bring more services onto the tax rolls. The beauty of a QR-based acceptance system is that swipes and EMV inserts are not needed. Merchants and customers transact mobile phone to cell phone. It comes in helpful if you are an angler selling item in a remote area, or a little merchant that does not want the telephone systems infrastructure required with a terminal. Likewise, it is inexpensive.

However, for now, this Zero Pay has the chance for a vast array of card approval points, utilizing low-priced QR code technology. It will operate outside the bounds of top quality network payment cards and is something to view as we move towards the next years.
