Building walls and/or shutting down
The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow. ~Unknown

Build castles instead of walls? But aren't castles made of walls? Imperfect metaphors, but I liked the comparison, still. I have seen a lot of people here try to shut down their feelings when trying to heal after infidity - on both sides of the fence, actually. Betrayed spouses feel if they stop caring about a cheating spouse they will stop hurting and feeling so wronged. Wayward spouses try shutting down their ability to love to protect themselves from loving the "wrong" person
We were meant to love and hurt and experience the whole rainbow of emotions. Going against that doesn't stop us from hurting, it stops us from living.
