Buggin

Something's been buggin me ever since this morning.  As yall know, I kinda celebrated my birthday today and as a birthday present for myself, I got a Sonicburger and fries.  What's buggin me is what happened there.  I gave the girl a $20 bill to pay for the $4.48 cost.  She had to get out a calculator to figure out the change!!!!!  Have we come so far that our young people need a calculator for such a simple task?  Before she even took the calculator out, I knew what the change would be.  How hard can it be!!!!  Do we, now, have an educational system that doesn't teach simple math?  I could have made that change when I was 9 years old!  Granted, as most of yall know, I grew up in my dad's grocery store and started handling money early in my life.  But such a simple calculation????  Think about it.  When was the last time someone counted back your change.  I know I can't remember.  They just give you your change and tell you how much it is.  The cash register figures it for them.  And it's not new.  When I was graveyard manager of Sambo's, I caught a waitress giving back the wrong change to a customer 30 years ago.  The cistomer had given her a $20 bill and she was giving him back change for $50!!!.  Why?  Because she had put $50 in the register as his payment and the register, not knowing the difference between a 20 and 50 dollar bill had told her to.  What happens when the batteries run down?  Or when the electricity goes out?
