Brush Making Machine

The machine has a pair of reciprocating jaws 31 and 32 secured to plate 33 which is slidably mounted in frame block 34 so that the ends of the jaws are movable toward and away from a brush back held in the holder. A block 35 is linked by means of member 37 to the crank arm 38 which lowers the jaws when the brush back has been positioned with one of its apertures under the jaws for tufting purposes.


When the anchor tuft is set in position within the tuft setting jaws, suitable drive mechanism introduces bristle strands into the jaws and drives them transversely against the stop member while a cutter severs the strands to the required length. The needle 42 then drives the tuft anchor and strands into an aperture in the brush back, thereby forming a tufted brush.


The machine is capable of producing a high volume of brushes per hour. It can produce a wide variety of shapes, from traditional brooms to flags and other specialty brushes.
