brother time

Our oldest invited his brothers to visit him in his new hometown (2 1/2 miles away) to watch a pro soccer match.  Both boys went!  In the past the youngest would have bowed out of it so it was especially special.
Having said that, it occurred to me that #1 son might want to order a beer.  Second son is old enough but told me he's now saving his drinking for the weekends.  Not ready to get help, yet.  So I texted #1 and asked if he would refrain from ordering a beer because of both of his brothers.  At first he didn't get it and didn't see why he just couldn't order one.  I told him that - out of respect - because his brother is struggling, not to.  He understood.  I also said that if his brother orders a beer not to get into it with him.  I didn't want to put him in an awkward position.  Strangely enough, my husband called him and told him the same thing without me knowing.
I wonder how the game and everything else played out.  The boys come back today.  Hope they had fun.
Update:  They had a riot.  Asked J if they drank beer and he said yes - but everything was in control.  He said between the 3 of them they split a 6 pack -even though our youngest is still underage.  Before splitting the 6 pack, they ordered $1 beers at the stadium.  I don't know why I wanted to know.  What difference does it make?  All I know is that they had great brother time and got up early - one to go to work and the other two home.  Actually, after the drive they met our second born son's girlfriend at the zoo (very hot day to be at the zoo) and then came back home.  Warms my heart that they had this time together.

Good to hear that they had a good time and appear to have a strong bond. Take Care!
