Bring It!!!
I started P90X on March 11, 2010. In case you are not familiar with this, stay up until 3:00 am some night and 6 out of 10 channels on TV will have an infomercial for P90X. It is an extreme workout, fat burning, body sculpting, get your ass into shape program. The program is 90 days broken down into three phases of four weeks each. The package comes with a great nutrition program too.
I have just started week three of phase 1 as of the date of this entry and I am loving every minute of it. For the past two weeks, I have been working out, eating better and feeling better than I have felt in a long time.
The thing I like most about this program is that it is structured. I wake up every morning at 4:00 AM (my choice) and the program tells me what workout to do that morning. I also follow the nutrition guide, more loosely than the workout program, but close enough to where I get the same benefit.
It has only been two weeks, but I have already lost three pounds and my pants feel looser. My main reason for starting this program was to get into shape. I'm not looking to have an Arnold Schwartzenegger physique, but since being diagnosed with MS, my activity level has decreased. Whether it was fatigue or depression, I have packed on a few pounds over the years.
My wake up call occurred when I went shopping for new pants a couple months ago. I asked to try on 36 waist slacks which was the size of my old slacks when I bought them a couple years ago. The sales person brought me the 36 and I went into the dressing room. I couldn't get them buttoned. Long story short, I had to buy 38 waist slacks. That was it for me! I knew if I didn't do something now, the next time I went shopping for slacks I would be looking at the 40 waist rack. No way!
I remember that evening I couldn't sleep and I saw the late night P90X infomercial. I remember thinking that what they were saying made sense to me, but then again anything would make sense to me at 3:00 AM. I didn't do anything about it then.
Flash forward to about three weeks ago, I'm laying in bed late at night and here again is that P90X infomercial that I saw a couple months prior. I said to myself, this program is three months long, if I would have started it two months ago when I first saw this infomercial, I would almost be done with it now and be in great shape. So I didn't delay one day longer. I bought the program and I made a commitment to myself to see it through.
