Bridal Shows (sigh)

They're all the same.  Vendors, like me (I'm a videomaker), trying to make money.  Bridezillas and their mothers trying to get as much bling and dazzle for as little money as possible.  Hence, the inevitable haggling ensues.  I hate it.  I go to bridal shows to show my videos and answer their questions, some of which I find silly, some of which I find interesting.  I'm part of a "package deal" with a photographer, which is what seems to sell, both for reasons of low price and for reasons that brides like hiring photographers and videographers who work together smoothly--there's no drama from getting in each other's shots. 
Got a few nibbles for future business.  Mainly I was just there to meet and have fun with single women, sisters, cousins or friends of brides, and also to get a sense of what I WANT IN a woman.  Generally the nicer, more laid-back ones are my cup of tea.  The hyper, stressed-out, high-maintenance, "everything has to be perfect" ones make me cringe, grate my teeth and want to run for the hills.
The wedding business is and always will be a certain kind of emotional experience for a certain level of income.  It's certainly better than the security guard business!  Still, I want to dig a little deeper, into myself and others, emotionally.  Weddings are too soft and fluffy for me now at this stage of life, age 49.  They were OK for me when I was younger, but now that I'm older and more rugged, I want to work on deeper, darker, harder-edged material of some kind...physical, mental and emotional challenges and adventures.
MOVIES are definitely my calling.  I just need ONE connection to get me in there, in the camera crew, on set, working with actors.  LIVE production is what I'm interested in.  CGI is a great tool for creating fantastic fantasy worlds, but when it comes to acting and performance, crafting a character in a cubicle in front of a computer is rather sterile compared to the buzz one gets when watching and getting involved with a REAL, GREAT actor perform LIVE on-set or on-location.
I watched James Cameron's Avatar (incredible film) in the 3-disc collector's edition again last night, including the special features, and it amazes me how real actors created those heart-wrenching performances, and then Weta digital-FX CG artists put on the realistic blue "skin" of their Navi native tribal characters. 
Zoe Saldana, who plays Neytiri, in particular breaks my heart.  She's awesome, both easy on the eyes (beautiful) and is a really intense, emotionally raw, feral, primal actress!  It's been fun watching her in Star Trek and Colombiana as well as Avatar.  She's of Dominican/Puerto Rican descent...mmm.  I want me someone like her.  She's no doubt a hot, spicy number, hard to handle, hard to hang onto, but I like her anyway!
