Brain tumor and treatment

I was diagnosed with a Oligoastrocytoma - right frontal lobe. The doctors all told me how lucky I was because it was on the right side of my brain. It was removed within ten days of the discovery. I then followed with radiation and chemotherapy. I loved my job and tried to work through it all. My boss, who is one of the best people I have ever met, told me that I was no longer doing a good job, I was completely heart broken. He gave me an extremely generous severance and recommended I apply for disability. I was convinced I was not disabled. I took several temp jobs that didn't work out. I would not believe I could be disabled. At one support group I attended I was told that people who have brain injuries are the last to figure out the are disabled. I finally had testing done and it was determined I was disabled. Of course by now the severance pay was gone. I got on disability very easily but they don't pay you until 6 months after your application. My poor, sweet, husband has been working 6 days a week in order for us to make ends meet. Disability pays less than half of what I was making as a Controller when I was diagnosed. I don't know how we could live with out it. Financial stress is my biggest worry now. We are trying our best to get out of debt as quickly as possible. My husband is 55 and still works 6 days a week. I worry about him. I believe this is why I now suffer from TMJ.
