BoxyLuxe Subscription Box Review – September 2018

BoxyCharm is a full-size beauty and makeup subscription box. Boxyluxe is a new once-a-quarter upgrade option you can add to your existing $21-a-month Boxycharm subscription. So for an additional $28.99, you’ll get the Luxe items, and be paying a total of $49.99 for that quarterly box. 

Since BoxyLuxe is an upgrade to your original subscription, you will be paying your normal subscription amount, $21/month if you have the monthly subscription, plus you will pay for the upgrade, which is $28.99 every March, June, September, and December.

PRETTY VULGAR Nightingale Eyeshadow Palette – Retail Value $35

Both regular Boxycharm and BoxyLuxe subscribers will receive this item.

This palette includes a mix of mattes and shimmers, mostly brown shades, with some silver and charcoal, too. I found the formulas to blend well, and I was impressed with the pigment, too.

The Ojitos Brush Trio by Alamar Cosmetics – $18

Both regular Boxycharm and BoxyLuxe subscribers will receive this item.

This brush set is made with soft, synthetic bristles. The brush on the right is perfect for blending out shadow, the left brush is for getting a close application for lining your lash line with eyeshadow, and the middle brush is perfect for applying shimmery shades.

Girlactik Skin Glow Duo in Moonlight – Retail Value $26

Both regular Boxycharm and BoxyLuxe subscribers will receive this OR Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Tropic Hues 

This highlighter duo is creamy, easy to blend, and I love that you can get a subtle shimmer or a more intense look depending on the application.

Lorac Pro Liquid Lipstick in Berry Red – Retail Value $19

Both regular Boxycharm and BoxyLuxe subscribers will receive this OR a liquid lipstick from Hank and Henry OR Violet Voss Liquid Lipstick OR Grande Cosmetics HydraPlump.

First, I love that this formula smells like chocolate cake! It’s a highly pigmented liquid lipstick with great staying power. And it dries down to a matte finish.

OK, now for the items that are exclusive to the BoxyLuxe upgraded box!

tarte Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette – $45

This is one of my favorite items in the box! First, I love the tarte brand (their products are ingredient conscious and the formulas are fantastic). Plus, how gorgeous is this gold metal packaging?

The formulas are chocolate scented! There are 2 matte highlighter shades, 2 matte bronzer shades, and 2 shimmer bronzer shades. The pigment is excellent, so I recommend not going too heavy-handed when first trying it out!

LUXIE 732 Airbrush Foundation Brush – Retail Value $38

This is my new favorite way to apply foundation! The bristles are densely packed and soft, it really does give an airbrush-like finish!

This is an all-star product discovery for me – I will definitely buy this again in the future.

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum – Retail Value $80

BoxyLuxe subscribers will either receive this OR Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Moisturizer 

This serum is designed to hydrate skin and reduce signs of aging. It’s a lightweight gel with the classic Juice Beauty green apple scent. (It’s very light, based on the comments I’ve read from MSA readers it’s an acquired taste ;), but I like it!) The serum absorbs almost immediately and provides instant hydration. I recommend this one of you are looking for skincare that is both ingredient-conscious and lightweight.

Sol de Janeiro Ipanema Sunset Glow Oil – Retail Value $35

After falling in love with their Bum Bum Cream, and their Samba Foot Fetish Cream, I’ll try anything Sol de Janeiro makes! This glow oil looks super shimmery in the bottle, but it actually goes on pretty subtly when you rub it in. And the scent is amazing! I love this as a body oil to just give a subtle glow to your tan, but you can also use it as a face highlighter, too.

Vintage Cosmetics Hairband – Retail Value $4.99

I use headbands like this every day (either for applying makeup or sheet masks), and this one is equal parts comfortable and cute – I’m happy to have a new one in the rotation!

R+Co High Dive Moisture + Shine Cream – 50 ml Value $9.86

BoxyLuxe subscribers will receive an R+Co product, but there is variation. This is the only non-full size item in the BoxyLuxe offerings.

I love R+Co products – the scents are SO good! This one reminds me a bit of the Ouai signature scent. It’s a lightweight cream that adds a little moisture and shine to damp hair and can work as a leave-in conditioner, too.

Totes A Charmer Totebag – Value $10?

This is a standard canvas tote with Boxy branding – I like it! (I’m also curious to see what other Boxycharm branded items they include in future boxes.)

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water in Centering Citrus – Retail Value $32

This mist works as both a primer and a setting spray post-makeup. I love a multi-use product, and spraying on a primer is so convenient – this is another win for me.

Verdict: The total retail value of this box is $352.85! I think that’s amazing for a $49.99 box! I found a lot of new favorites in the BoxyLuxe additions. (I’m obsessed with that foundation brush!)
