Books Im reading
I am reading two books suggested on DSWW.
One is "The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion. Like me, she lost her husband unexpectedly and instantly when he had a heart attack during dinner. She writes “Life changes in an instant. You sit down to dinner, and life as you know it ends.” The book is about her life and thoughts shortly after he died.
She is an awesome writer. She wrote for major magazines, and has published books. This book is making me think about the early days after my husband’s death. It is provoking tears. I don’t know if it’s a good thing to get all the tears out, or to just not subject myself to such triggers. [I went ahead and finished it. Her writing was just too good.]
The other book is “Hello From Heaven.” The writer interviewed hundreds of people who share their experience of a deceased loved one communicating with them. Sometimes they send a certain scent associated with them. Sometimes they actually appear and speak. They always seem to bring the message: “I’m okay. I’m happy. Please don’t worry about me. I love you.” The book is basically story after story of “After Death Communications.” Always, the person who is visited feels a profound peace. This is a nice little book to pick up and put down, carry in purse, read by pool or at beach...
