Book is finalized.
I've just written an agreement to accept one of the bids from a publisher for this book. It's official now. It's listed in the Directory of Books in Print, and information is being fed into Amazon.com this week. The only drawback is that Amazon wants 55% of the price AFTER discount, leaving me with very little profit, so I hope I either sell a lot, or people buy it directly from me off of www.resurrectionafterrape.org (to get a personalized copy), or I sell loads of them at conferences. Also, two of my former patients have name credit right on the cover. It wasn't a publishing requirement--after all, I wrote this manuscript--but it was the right thing to do, since they have been particularly helpful with it. Much of the art and journaling inside the book comes from them, and they have been so patient with my constant messages asking "just one more question." Now, the big question comes: will people actually buy this? I'm hoping for lots of support and interest from DS, of course, but what about people looking for books about rape recovery? I hope it becomes a stand-out book, because God knows the dozens of women whose stories fill its pages are remarkable. I plan to add to the website, including unpublished "bonus" chapters, a forum for "Ask Shannon" or "Ask Matt" (or even "Ask Victoria," if she hasn't moved to another planet by then) so people can interact. Maybe even have a simple cafepress store to sell gifts with inspirational designs, such as: (this is Shannon's letter of blessing for future survivors, along with a hawk image that becomes very significant within the book) Well, what do you think, friends?

Wow, I just re-read some of my very old journals. January 11, for example. If you\'re very astute, you can discern an as-yet untold story that exists in the space between then and now, and see just why the two entries--four months apart--tell such a compelling story.
WHOO! ITS OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven\'t been on in a while....things have been quite the struggle here to be perfectly honest. I am so sorry that I have not sent that letter yet and only hope that I am not too late. At any rate, it will go out tomorrow. More about my own dilemas in my Journal this evening. Much love to you all.....and I absolutely love the book cover! Will order mine from your site as soon as they are available. Please do let us know! I am also very interested in how you pair your native upbringing and teachings with your healing...I have native blood as well, although I was not raised with this portion of my family and it is intriguing to me to learn of this spiritual side of your work. Are these things addressed in this book as well or do you have another book or writings that address these things that I may purchase as well?
I do address them in one section. It\'s not the focus of the book, of course, but there is a section about spirituality in recovery and I incorporate some indigenous beliefs into that discussion. I did write a previous book called \"The Last Indian Wars\" about modern Native cultural issues from a combined Native-Christian point of view. It\'s 520 pages, but it\'s not in bookstores. I produced that one privately and simply sell it one at a time. So it\'s no best-seller or anything.
As for my own approach, I do incorporate some aspects of traditionalism. For example, I use a purification ceremony each week for my own balance, and I\'ve recently invited two women to accompany me for a healing experience there. But I am very protective about a lot of those things because the \"new age\" crowd is snatching it up with \"Mother Earth spirituality\" -type nonsense, and I don\'t want to expose any older ways that might be misappropriated.
wow, how awesome for you and the many womyn this will help.
I would love to buy a copy from your site, i just have to work out how cos i am in Australia.
I still think you are amazing.
Thank you.
I\'m so excited for you! How long until it\'s available?
omething that might help with online sales through your site is to make paypal available as a way to pay. (My husband sells on eBay and once he added paypal his sales shot way up. And I know I always hunt for the ability to pay through paypal when I make an online purchase. It\'s just so much easier and it does tend to raise more spur of the moment sales when you can just click a few buttons.)
kaye10, it is does have paypal available.
I\'m so excited!!!
I would definitely purchase this book, and I would recommend it to anyone I know who has had similar difficulties in life.
I let my doctor read some of your journal exercises (along with my responses to them) and he was very interested as well.
Honestly, I don\'t think anyone should have to endure this without reading your book.
It\'s officially at Amazon! http://tinyurl.com/68qxn9
But I still hope people buy it right from resurrectionafterrape.org because it\'s the same price and Amazon won\'t take 55%. Plus, it\'ll be inscribed by myself and the two primary contributors.
I have sent you an email through the site resurrectionafterrape. I would like a copy of both books mentioned....\"The Last Indian Wars\" as well as the newest \"Resurrection After Rape\". You are such an awesome inspiration!
Received printer\'s proofs yesterday, and they look really nice. Some last-minute editing and photo layout, and they\'ll be prepared for printing.
