OUR BLUESHELL CRABBING ADVENTURE! :) lots of great excitement building up, as we were gearing up to go blueshell crabbing last night. :) When you go blueshell crabbing at night time, they call it, "Firelighting" :) it'swhen you use a light, flashlight, to flash the light on the water to spot the crabs, and then you can scoop up the crabs. :) blueshell crabs got their name, because there's blue color on the crabs colors. :) my dad got our crabbing nets, and our flashlights all set. :) i wore my carpenter jeans, had on my lightweight jacket, and wearing my Redskins hat! :) my brother Bobby arrived to pick us up, around 7pm. :) he brought his truck. :) my mom was waving to us, as we began to make our way over to Preston, Ct. :) we cruised across the pequot bridge, we see the Thames River, the Norwich State hospital site is over there, plus, Mohegan Sun Casino! :) we took a right, to go to Stoddard's park. :) it's Preston. :) We arrived there, and noticed lots of people were crabbing in that cove area, where there's an inlet. We were ready to make our way to the Drawbridge. :) we got all of our nets, buckets, flashlights, and began to walk through a path, that lead up to the Railroad tracks. :) This was awesome! :)We saw the MOON rising up into the sky, and i knew the meteor shower was expected to be seen all weekend. :) i knew the sky was gonna be lit up with magical excitement. :)
my dad, brother, and i began to walk the railroad tracks. :) We saw some people crabbing, they said hi to us, and we said hi to them, and said, "Catchin anything?" :) we continued to make our way to the drawbridge. :) i hadn't been to the drawbridge, in about 8 years! we saw the pequot bridge way off into the distance. :) we arrived at the Drawbridge, we were the only people there! wow! we began to look around, it was beginning to get darker, and that moon was rising more! the crescent moon! :) it was so neat, and was glowing! :) we began to get our flashlights on, and were seeing some crabs! :) i missed a few crabs to begin with, but eventually my dad, brother, and i began to catch some blueshell crabs. :) The tide was low, but was coming in more, we began to see more crabs, they were swimming in with the tide. :) We saw, a huge bird flying around, i think a crane bird. :) We also heard geese! :) my dad walked way over by this inlet area, he walked all around it! :) wow! my brother brought his fishing pole, he casted it out, and had a crab on the line! oh my!

Pequot Bridge :) We drove across the bridge, twice last night :)
This is a picture i took of the Thames River, while we were driving across the pequot bridge :)
Bouey 30 marker :) these markers, have red, and green lights, along the Thames River. :) They are for Boaters, to know, which side of the water they are supposed to be on :)
we saw some boats! :)
in this picture, you can see the Mohegan Sun casino hotel off into the distance :)
This is a view of the Drawbridge, on our way there. :) This is where we went blueshell crabbing last night :)
This is a picture of the sign, by the Stoddard's park. :) the sign shows a blueshell crab, and has information about the rules of blueshell crabbing :) blueshell crabs must be at least 5 inches from point to point on the crab shell :)
The moon was beautiful last night :) a crescent moon, shining upon the Thames River :)it was wonderful to see :) i took the following pictures of the moon :) as the moon was over by the horizen, it looked orange, kinda like the harvest moon :)
In this next picture, it was really dark, but this is the area of the sky, where i saw the shooting star! :) it was incredible!!! :) i was so excited, when i saw the shooting star! :) i made a wish too! :)
Heart-Shaped Rock, by the Drawbridge :)i saw this huge rock, that kinda looks like it's shaped like a heart! : )very cool! :)
More views of the area :)
SHOOTING STAR OR PERSEID METEOR SHOWER :) i looked on google.com to see if i could find a picture like the sight i saw last night :) this looks just like it :) amazing! :)

I\'m home cleaning today, changing the bed, laundry, odds-n-ends... Been a nice day with many accomplishments! Pups and I were up at 5 a.m. when Guy was up and getting ready to leave... We just stayed up which meant I started pretty darn early! I\'m usually a little slower, but I did get lots and lots done... Now we\'re all just relaxing for the evening...
