Bluesday

Dearest,
As in a tale of two cities, It was the worst of times, let's face it, It was the worse of times. I woke up this morning (technically it was still morning) to no water. After some quick trouble shooting called a well guy. He came out, confirmed my diagnosis and will be back Blursday to replace it. In the meantime, I have no water! Trying to melt snow to flush the toilet, not going well. A huge bucket of snow yields about a quart of water. I'm trying to eat things that dirty the absolute least amount of dishes. Will run out tomorrow and by more bottled water. What ELSE can go wrong?
I have gotten fourteen hours of sleep so far today. I am back to counting from midnight just like every winter. I'll probably get a couple more before midnight tonight. I'm tired! Made myself laugh with that one! Cleared the drifts off of the roof and of course moved that 5' snowdrift off of the cellar doors. Had to in order to check on the well pump power etc. I have to snow blow a path for the well guy tomorrow so that he can get his equipment in. Forgot to call Doogie lawyer, will tomorrow.
That muscle in my back is acting up again, the one by my shoulder blade. Shovelling? No, although that probably set the table, I turned to look out the window and felt it go. Makes it hard to fall asleep but once I do seems to be fine. Trying to deal with it, gonna raid the Motrin. I seem to be sinking deeper and deeper into chaos and despair, just can't fight anymore, come get me.
Your Ken

I\'m on the way. If your life wasn\'t so tragic it would be funny. Maybe you could write a book. In the mean time try paper plates it works for me. Diane

Blizzards must be like hurricanes, with snow. I went throught Besty when I was 13. We had no water, electricity. I remember my mom, filling the bathtub with water, every hurricane, for flushing the toilet.
Hang in there Ken. It has to pass. I think sleep is what\'s keeping you sane. (sort of)

Oh, Ken, I feel your pain. Our area had a wind storm in 2008 that left me and most of our city without electricity for just shy of two weeks. It wasn\'t pretty! The restaurants were closed, and most households had tons of food spoil in the fridges and freezers. The lucky ones were those with generators. I too live in the country and have a well, so no water for necessities. I drove to my daughter\'s house so I could shower. By the time we were back in business, we all were pretty darn testy. It sure brought a renewed appreciation for even the basics of life. Hang tough. It sounds as though you are very creative. I hope your pump/well issue is resolved tomorrow. At least you will be able flush again :>) It sounds as though you got blasted during the storm. A winter to remember, huh!!!! Blessings to you as you shovel your way to freedom. TJ

Ken,
Hang in there. Have you talked to a doctor about all the sleep and the despair? I\'m thinking perhaps a visit and candid talk with your physician is in line here. I don\'t like the line \"come get me\"... just worried about you.

I totally agree with with Linda, thegoodcook. Way too much sleeping could be some underlying health issue. Seems we never catch a break. Maybe call someone who can help you. Maybe a stay at a friends house. Just brainstorming trying to help. My heart goes out to you. Hugs.

Ken my heavens when it rains, it snows......LIfe seems to be plotting against us getting on with things with out so many complications. I felt life was ganging up on me too after Frank died. I finally asked for help from family when things went wrong, it did seem to help, even if it was just someone to talk to about it. Hang in and I hope that the well man can get you back online tomorrow. What went, the pump??? Jane

Yes, the well pump is fried. A couple of hundred feet underground. When I was younger and if the weather was better I could do it myself . I left out a line from my journal. Everyone who is concerned about my sleep, I go through this every winter. One year I swear I slept two weeks without a break except for food. Abby thought it was SAD so did my GP but my shrink said no. Am I depressed? You bet your Bippy.

Good luck with the water situation. I sure hope it gets fixed soon. Right after Dan died, the main water line to my house broke. I only found out because the meter reading was so high. The break was on the hill and most of the water was running down the hill underground. It was a booger to find that break and I still feel the sore muscles from all the digging. But being without water those couple of days was worse.
