Blood Tests for Lupus and Carcinoid Syndrome
I keep having to remind myself, I can be honest on here... I don't have to be strong and pretend like everything's ok.
A letter dropped through the letterbox on Monday. It was from my consultant, he'd meant to add two more blood tests to the list he's already requested. As I'm always keen to read all about what blood tests I'm having, I looked up these new additions on the internet... one is for Lupus and the other... Carcinoid Syndrome. The consultant did say in the letter he was wanting to "rule these out" but I'd be lying if said I wasn't scared. Carcinoid Syndrome? I mean what if I actually do have cancer? Lupus I can cope with. So far, I have stayed away from suspecting cancer as everyone always says, "Oh it won't be cancer"... but what if it is? And now my consultant wants to test for it so even if it is just to "rule it out", he must think there's a chance it could be.
I've decided not to wait till the end of the month to have these tests done with the others, I'm going tomorrow. The waiting for all the tests I've been having is horrible, and the tests seem to be getting more and more serious. I'd thought the letter on Monday was my hemochromatosis results coming back... what a shocker!
