Blood
Step two: give lots-o-blood. CHECK.
***
Dragged myself out of bed and gave vial after vial after vial after vial of blood. Checking for Vit D, cortisol, testosterone/estrogen/progesterone, thyroid, DHEA, and a couple others because there were 7 vials. I asked why they needed one for each test and why they couldn't buddy up.
***
The nurse said she looked on the computer and wanted to do exactly what the lab said to do so I wouldn't have to come back in.
***
I feel like most of it will come back within normal range and expressed that to the doctor, but told her I understood we needed a baseline. She said it's also important to compare levels. It isn't always about one thing and one number.
***
I gave doctor a 3 page health history. She said the meds I was given for sleep early on were "horrible drugs". She said only people who CAN tolerate pretty much any kind of medication would be given those. As in, no wonder half of the smallest dosage knocked you out. She actually said (referring to my history), "Let me look over this some more later and see if I can't catch something we haven't talked about." Say, what?! Twilight zone?
***
I don't expect miracles with the CFS, and I understand we have to tolerate a certain amount of sleep disorder, but I need to find SOMETHING. We even talked about what to do if the tests come back normal. Now, there's a first. Most doctors rely so much on tests that they don't even respond to our CFS anomalies.
***
I'm already taking the progesterone cream that she would have recommended. (You see, we do our homework. It's true.)
***
A little bit of hope. That's all I need right now.
***
Those ridiculous "Twilight" books about vampires (I only read the first one to see what the fuss was about and wasn't very impressed) has caused a fervor over vampires, werewolfs, etc. At least, I don't have to worry about vampires tonight. They wouldn't get much of a drink from me - it's all at the lab.
***
Remember "Dark Shadows"? It was a soap opera about vampires that came on at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon when I was in elementary school. Spooky.
***
carry on.

Yeah, aren\'t there enough blood cells in half of one vial for at least 10 tests?

Sounds cool that you have a doctor who\'s willing to look at your records even while you\'re not in the office.
Just curious, did you also have a viral panel run? Don\'t know if it will make any difference, but it would be interesting to know.
Hope this leads to something for you, Katy. It sounds like the doctor has some sensitivity to the way we react to drugs, that\'s a very good sign.
Sorry if I was too negative on my last comment, I\'m having some trouble myself.
Did they check your oil? LOL
Will send a msg!
\"I feel like most of it will come back within normal range \"
I thought that too. But it didn\'t that time. It showed me so far into the menopause range my GYN had to ask me again when I quit having periods. He said the blood work said I was post meno, and I wasn\'t.
Barnabas Collins. *ptthhb* So there.

Oh - and you could still be fluctuating meno-wise. This is NOT to be considered a be all and end all blood test...
