Blessed.....
You called in January from rehab, your gonna spend a week there to 'dry out' before you come here for your 25th birthday. (we haven't seen you in over a year) We said no to your visit, that you needed to stay in rehab, we would NOT come get you seeing as though you've been lying once again, about using.
You saw fit to check yourself out with some guy there, meet up with that 'gf' of yours and continuing using.
So the three of you found your drugs through this 'guy' and the one thing you told me 'it won't happen to me', happened. You overdosed. That 'guy' you checked out with wasn't going to allow your gf to call 911. What a great 'friend' eh? But she didn't care, she called anyhow, ER showed up to give you 5 rounds, FIVE, of Narcan and with chest compressions bruising your ribs, they brought you back. You woke up in an ER and with 10 ER personnel around you to tell you you died not once, but twice and they brought you back and you better NOT waste this 2nd chance!
Yet you still left the hospital only to use yet again. But you got fed up, made the call to your Nana, who thankfully came and picked you and that 'gf' of yours up from that nasty hotel you were in, bring her home to her family and you to rehab. I may not like my ex-MIL, but God bless her for being there. Noone called me to tell me you where in the hospital, your an adult and it's your perogative.
But your in rehab, into your 2nd week, more than ever before and gaining weight, your HepC is undetectable, you have ALL your facilities for being 'dead' two times and more than 15 minutes the 1st time....so you BETTER take this as a God given Blessing! We get ONE ticket to the big dance, you've gotten a 2nd! Don't waste it, don't slip, drop that gf, drop those friends and get back on track.
Sometimes I just start balling my eyes out thinking that instead of talking to you on the phone in rehab, I could be staring at your ashes.
God has a plan for us all, your plan isn't finished, you've been 'recalled to duty' per God. So you BEST heed his warning, next time, you won't be as lucky.
Although I 'thought' I had prepared myself for that 'call', nothing can prepare us, that I know now.
I want to run to be by your side, but I will keep my path as I have, I will not enable, feel sorry, but I will talk, support, but will not put my life on hold and drop everything to 'save' you. Only YOU can save you. I will love you, talk to you, cheer you on, support you. THAT is what love is all about. But I will NOT enable you EVER. As I see it, we don't owe you ANYTHING, but YOU owe US something: Sobriety That's all we ask.
