bittersweet day

Cody and Casey's wedding was beautiful today.  The only thing that could have made it better would have been if Jeff could have been there when his oldest son got married.  It was hard to listen to the words of the ceremony---especially the reading from Ecclesiastes about two being better than one--my heart ached with longing to have Jeff there with me at the same time that it swelled with joy as I looked at my beautiful, quirky family.  It was hard seeing Jeff's parents and sisters, hard seeing Jeff's features in Cody's face, hard watching others dance with their partners,  On the flip side, the kids were great and I couldn't have been more proud of all of them.  Feeling happy, sad, lonely, and blessed all at the same time.

Crazy, how fast we can cycle through emotions, isn\'t it? It\'s still a blessing to witness, and particpate, in a family event like this!

Oh sweetie, I remember how hard it was when my oldest son Tyler got married. It was almost 2 years after Ross died, but my heart ached in all the same ways you described above. Immediately after the ceremony I had to sneak away for a private little cry, then dry my eyes and go on with the celebration so I didn\'t put a damper on the day. It\'s so hard, but you made it through.

I\'m hoping and praying this year is a good one for you, personally and family wise, and that you will make many strides forward and even find love again. I\'m so glad we found friendship here on DS.

Hugs and prayers, Tami

I know it was a beautiful day......bittersweet with wonderful memories. Mark\'s daughter Rachel is getting married May 7 and we\'re in the planning stages now. I met her Saturday at the cabin where the wedding will be held. It\'s about 1 1/2 hours from where I live - it was a beautiful sunny day and I know how much Mark would have loved the drive up there. I shed a few tears on the way home, knowing that he was there with me - smiling down on his only daughter and loving her so much. It will be a tough day without him physically there - tough for all of us as he will be gone one year on May 4th. She just decided on the day in November. My guess is that her Dad had a hand in helping her make the decision - it\'s just like him to want us to focus on a happy time, not focus on sadness.
Hugs to you CJ,
Chris
