Bittersweet
It is a lovely day in the Ottawa Valley. We are going to a sugar bush of friends of Lisa and Harvey's. They are tapping the trees the old fashioned way. I have been to modern ones but this will be interesting.
The part that is bittersweet is an email I got from one of Lisa's coworkers and dear friend. Nancy was the nursing manager and Lisa was the office manager at St. Elizabeth Health Care - a home care organization. They had a wonderful time working together and socializing. When the office closed down in Smith's Falls and Lisa chose not to drive in to Ottawa city centre or to Kingston to work, she and Nancy still talked daily and did painting classes weekly. They dreamed of opening a nurse run clinic together. Nancy would take care of the nurses and Lisa the office.
Nancy went ahead with their plan to start a clinic and is now hiring staff. She asked if we would mind if she dedicated the clinic in memory of Lisa. We were all touched and thrilled - Lisa would have loved being involved in the project. I told Nancy that Lisa was probably with her when she was interviewing as they did all the interviews together at St. Eliz.
So it goes. I will go into the bush and cry because Lisa would have loved going to the sugar bush with her friends and family.
