Big scare last night with my dog

Paul went out last night with a friend.  I came home with David and Paul called to check in.  Was sitting in the kitchen talking to Paul on the phone, and the dog was laying next to me on the floor by the back door.  All of a sudden, she starting making these funny gagging noises and kept sticking her tongue out and licking, licking, licking.  (Did you ever see a dog do something like this when you give them peanut butter?  It was like that only worse.)  Then I noticed a black spot on the middle of her tongue inside her mouth.  She was so upset and wimpering.  She was breathing, but just really looked scared and in distress.  OMG, I was SO scared.  She even got the hiccups really bad.  Near as I can figure, she probably ate a bug, although I didn't see her eat it, but I have been seeing stink bugs around here a lot in the kitchen by the back door (ever since we had the bad ceiling leak in February and had to replace a bunch of drywall over that area.)  I was online looking for answers and finding none.  Going all over the house looking for Benadryl and didn't find that either.  Either it just tasted really bad or something but it was really scary to watch.  Eventually she calmed down and I gave her a couple of salty pretzels and she went and got a big drink of water.  Woke up this AM and checked her mouth and the black spot is gone and she seems fine.  She ate all of her breakfast, no problem.  You would hope she learns her lesson.  She mouthed a toad last summer and was spitting out foam and I had to hose her mouth out with the garden hose.  You would think she would learn after that but a month or so later, she did it again!  She is such a joy in my life.  She is like my child and it was awful watching her in distress.  Thank God she is ok now. Phew!  Crisis over. David and I bowl in a Junior/Adult league now in the summer on Wednesday nights.  Got in my 10,000 steps yesterday, barely.  We both bowled well and our team won 3 games out of 4 last niight.  Pretty soon, David is going to be kicking my butt at bowling.  He has really improved!  His last day of school is today. Paul is going to Utah next week with a friend for like 4 days.  Will be just me, David and the dog.  Will be nice I think. OB/GYN says everything looks good.  So that is a relief.  I have to get a mammogram and some bloodwork to confirm if I am going through peri-menopause.  All of the symptoms are there except hot flashes.  My mom went through menopause early and never had hot flashes, so maybe I will get lucky.   Food still is an issue.  I was really hungry last night and ended up eating a bunch of pretzels and 4 chocolate chip cookies!  Late night is the worst.  I am good all day and then we sit down to watch tv and I just go crazy.  I can't let myself start because I can't stop!  I did not go to the Y this am.  Will try to go tomorrow first thing.  I was too beat after last night.  I will try to take the dog for a nice long walk later to get in my steps and exercise.
